Because there is no EU regulation on the sale of cabbage.

I was bored so I found this...

http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2006:112:0003:0008:EN:PDF

Can't be arsed to count the words though...

Hmm, perhaps you could be wrong on that. If the EU can  :censored: with anything.....they will!

Ros, many thanks for that, that made very interesting reading.

Word count = 1,942.

Copy and paste into a word document, review, word count. And I am shit with computers!

Nearly two thousand words eh? So once that has been translated into all the languages of country's in the EU it would actually exceed 26 thousand words.

Instead of deliberating about the regulations regarding the sale of cabbage within the EU, why isnt there frantic activity booking up your accomodation for the Bank Holiday get together ?

Class Dismissed! :smartass:

Very succinct, mind you, it's only the specific variations relating to headed cabbages rather than the full policy....

Money well spent!

Bumpkin, now I'm worried, I thought that was the full monty, I feel now as if I've been short changed by the link Ros put on.   :nono:

Mecki, do us a favour, can you find the full mashings?

Is there a regulation in there concerning cabbages posting on internet forums?
I only ask as there seem to be a few on here.  :hammer: :single fuck: :double fuck:

I only said there is no such thing because I was too lazy to search for it myself.
I know that there are regulations about how straight cucumbers and how bent bananas have to be, so why not regulations for cabbages as well?
Well, cabbage is a very difficult subject indeed.
Biologically Cabbage, Kale, Cauliflower, Brussel Sprouts, Broccoli and Kohlrabi are just sub species of Brassica Oleracea and therefore it can be quite difficult to define what's really what.
Once in flower they all look the same - and can actually cross-breed.
And then there are different varieties and hybrids.
Some have plain leafs other are more curly.
Ever seen a green cauli?
Obviuosly that is a cauliflower-broccoli hybrid.
When is a cabbage a cabbage and not something else?
How big does it have to be to be regarded as a cabbage and not just an overgrown Brussel Sprout?
How firm does it have to be to be regarded as ripe and not yet shooting into seed?
When is a cabbage still fit to be sold and when is is regarded as being rotten?

We obviously need explicit regulations to solve those mysteries!
But thanks to the chaps and chapesses at the EU Commission we don't have to worry about that any longer.
Well, if you can actually find the EU Cabbage Regulation with all its annexes.  :mfr_lol:

I still think the original statement is rubbish since comparing the EU Cabbage Regulation with the 10 commandments or the American constitution is not fair.
Add all the books and commentaries that have been written to explain the latter and you will find that even several Million words won't suffice.  :hammer:

mecki, you need to do more research, you often jump in as the nay sayer  , usually to be corrected

:mfr_lol: Can you actually prove that statistically or are you jumping to conclusions here?  :mfr_lol:

I agree, I like to jump in and tend to provoke people with unorthodox trains of thought.
More often than not that may upset some people, especially if they don't like to think for themselves and/or are narrow minded.
But since in most cases we are stating opinions and are not discussing facts, you may not agree, but we all know opinions cannot be corrected.
Of course we may have different opinions if something is a fact or just an opinion. But don't let's complicate things too much.  :ohplease:
Life would be so boring if everybody would always agree with everybody else.

And sometime I just can't be bothered to do research and let others the satisfaction to have proven me wrong.
In this case nobody has come up with the actual text of the EU Cabbage Regulation, and to be honest I am not really interested in it either.
So I guess we'll never know if it really contains over 26.000 words or not.

At mecki
I have found in life when you make an ass of yourself just put your hand up an say i have made an ass of myself.
In your case an inane amount of drivel usually accompanies you making excuses after you make an ass of yourself.
