Hello peeps, Just received my 660 and am having trouble down loading my music to it. I have plugged it into my laptop, opened my music folder, tried to drag my music across to it and all seemed ok. But when I tried to listen to it fro the sat nav, It say's no music files>>>> WTF!!!
Any Ideas????

:agree:
BTW I am not clear where did you try to upload music: to device or to SD card.
In any case my advice is to download to SD card as you will need every byte of device memory
convert to MP3 and drag each track to the micro SD card you've thoughtfully added to the 660... Works for me. :smartass:

:agree: you must upload directly to the card not to the card via the device...I think I mentioned this before on another thread
OC has it ... straight to the card
If you decide to use a micro SD card get the fastest available. I bought a 32gb Class 10 for about £23 from Maplins. The higher the class, the faster it will process the data on it.

:agree: and upload from your lappy to the card at the highest available sound quality, which you can choose from a drop down in your music library file
Thankyou for the helpful suggestions guys
Just got back from a rideout so will get started and try and download tonight and let ya know how I get on. I'll have to pinch the 64GB Micro SD Card I bought the wife for her Tablet at Christmas. It's a Class 10 so should do the job fine then. Don't tell her though!! :mfr_lol:
Regards
Darren
I am getting a bit confused over something I am sure is simple when you have done it a few times. However when I try and transfer music files across to the SD Card and put it back in the Garmin and select MP3, it says, "No MP3 Files Found"
I Must be doing something wrong as It aint working.
I am Installing the Micro SD Card to my Laptop, Then I open 'My Music' and select and drag each song I want, across to the SD card device...
Any Ideas or a quick Idiot Guide please would be useful.
Cheers
Darren
Have you formated the new card? I think 4Gb is officially largest you can use :undecided: sometimes get small free one with some mobile phones.
Hi , it will pay you to check with Garmin re micro SD memory size , I think they quote 16gb is the max, this is what I use but you do need to convert it to MP3, check with using I tunes as I think it is already converted for you, alsa I am no puter expert so perhaps someone else can help out there.
Good luck and enjoy it when you get there!!
Dezzer
Just a quick add on, put the micro SD card into a converter then insert into puter, on I tune you"rip" to the library, when thats done you can right click on library and hopefully the recording is there which on mine is under computer on my desktop. and when done you can I think right click on the album and if I remember right then send to the micro SD card which should show towards the bottom left hand side of the screen you have brought up with" computer" as possibly "E" or similar which is your micro card, dont send it to Garmin zumo 660 as it will affect the memory for future upgrades, then hopefully the music will be on the 660 under the music sign, I hope you can follow this alright if not call Garmin and get them to talk you through, once again goodluck...Dezzer
Darren, leave the SD card in the garmin, thats the only way your garmin will see the MP3's.
Make sure you use the garmin USB lead that comes with it, they are different to normal USB leads.
Make sure you download all the correct software for your PC, drivers ect
First of all, many thank's to everyone for their help and Advice.
I have finally sussed it out. I think...
This is what I did. probably the long way round but I did not have any music on My Laptop. I was using Sonia's last night. Decide to start from scratch and upload my own music.
First I had to Rip my CD's onto the Media Player Library
Before Ripping I had to change the format to MP3 and select the highest Bit Rate for best Quality
Once I had ripped all my CD's to the library I then inserted my 4GB Micro SD Card, (In the Adaptor) into my card slot in the laptop
The Micro SD card came up in the device menu on the LHS of the screen as E:\
Once I clicked the E:\ symbol, I was then able to sync the device to the Media Player and it came up at the RHS of the screen
I was able to drag my albums across one at a time to the Box at the RHS of the screen and press Sync
Each one was then uploaded to the SD card
I then put the SD card back into the Garmin and it all worked fine. Phew!!!
Things I was doing wrong were, My Original Micro SD Card was a huge 64GB, and the music I had at first was not in MP3 Format. I ended up using the 4GB SD Card that came in the unit. I did not use this at first as I thought it might not be as good quality but hey ho.
On the plus side, I have now got my Sena SMH10 Headsets talking to each other, I can hear my Wife, the sat Nav and MP3 Player through my headsets but she can only hear me, not the Sat Nav or Music.
I will look into the reason later but I am gonna attempt to install the Charging Dock for the Garmin to the Front Auxilliary Wiring connections this morning.
Fingers Crossed. :mfr_lol:
R
Darren, i got the impression that with the sena kit (or other bluetooth for that matter) your other half couldn't listen to the same music as you, and she'd have to have her own.
I had loads of hassle with a bluetooth set up..so now I'm back with Autocom... Music, radio, speech and satnav for both of us up to about 90 pretty clear. ( in controlled conditions on a closed road of course ) :whistling:
You may be right Bryn. Sonia may have to just plug her MP3 player into the back of her Bluetooth Set. There is a stereo lead in the kit for this so at least she will have something to listen too while I have got my Tom Jones on :mfr_lol:
Cheers

HI again Darren, re the"no MP3 files found" message-every now and then this comes up on my 660, I just switch on and off sometimes twice is necessary and by magic its all back......damned if I know, just adds to the hair surrounding modern tech stuff in my house!!
Dezzer, I get the same, sometimes it doesn't recognise music or my headset, so just have to reboot it and then its all there again.
Mine does that too.. Taking the battery out and pushing the card in and out sorts it... Until it does it again... Pain in the arse
I was surprised to find out today that when I type in a proposed route. It does not tell me the mileage or arrival time like my car's Tom Tom Does!!!
Hmm!
I find that quite handy on the Tom Tom I must say. :undecided:
Apart from the MP3 player and larger screen, I am really wondering what it has over the Tom Tom Rider that's worth the extra £200
Time will tell hopefully :whistling:
There is one very occasional issue with the 660. On a few occassions I have switched on the 660 and went to play music. It can back and said it couldn't find any and defaulted to Audiobooks - in German
I know full well there tracks loaded on the SD card, if it happens the only thing to do is to switch off the 660 and then switch it on again.
Kind regards
Steve

You just need to go into the settings menu and customise the screen view. I have mine set with time of arrival, distance to destination, time to next turn etc.
The Garmin is a bit more 'grown up' than Tom Tom, but does need fiddling with to get it as you want it.

+1 :stupid:
Well guy's I can't find anything obvious in the garmin menu that will let me change the settings to show journey time or mileage...... So you will have to enlighten me please.
Thank's

Hi
Its fairly easy. When the unit is on go to View Map.
There should hopefully be 4 icons on the LHS side of the screen. They might show things like speed, odometer, overall avg..........
Tap with you finger on the one you want to change ie if its the top right one, tap on that( you might need to hold your finger there for a few seconds.
It should take you to a screen which then shows the other ones which are able to be displayed ie Max speed, Fuel level etc etc
Just select the one you want and a green tick should appear next to it.
Select the back button and the icon should have chnaged to the one you have selected.
If you want things like Arrival Time, Arrival distance etc etc these are only displayed when the unit is displaying a route ie programme in a route and these should show up. If they don't then programme in a route, go to View Map and repeat the above to select the ones you want.
Hope that helps
Steve
