Xmas pressies fitted – surprised I had to shape the Beowulf radiator cover to make it fit / miss the horn. I would have expected some instructions but never mind, got there in the end.
Calsci screen (x large) fitted, also surprised the levers (without fingers) clash with the screen by about ½" when on full lock. I guess apart from parking the bike away you never use full lock. Does anyone have the same issue?
Sat nav to fit once the longer bolts arrive for the risers. To remove the left hand panel to access the accessory power supplies, is it just the three screws I can see, plus the one in the bottom of the lockable compartment?
Cheers,
Allan

ive got this screen and when on full lock ive got approx 2 or 3 inches of clearance before my brake/ clutch levers hit, someone else put on here that when the caslci screen lowers down it rubs on the paintwork around the headlight, i dont have this issue either,
its your risers that are the problem, calsci screen is modelled on a stock bike
Thanks for the prompt - risers not on yet but from memory they should bring the bars back an inch or so, this might give the required clearance
I also have the calsci xlarge screen fitted and my levers also touch screen on full lock. No risers fitted. Can be a bit tricky operating steereng lock.
i dont understand why your levers are hitting the screen, mine has loads of clearance , are your bikes pre 2010?
Mines a 2010. If I wind the lever adjusters right in they just catch. But no room for fingers
video to show clearance at full lock

Alfor, that's very concerning, I am baffled as to why / how its preventing full lock.
Viper I'm also concerned that you appear to have two very large rabbits residing in your living room!!
It does seem strange, I've emailed heroblobs for their advice.
Only way I seem to be able to up load a video is via youtube (hopefully it works and you can see the difference between mine and vipers screen):
http://youtu.be/s2yZUK8MMJ8
just measure our screen at full width, just to determine we are talking about the same screens, i THINK mine is a xl , anyway its 625mm at its widest point.
LW, yeah, the rabbits are house rabbits, fully litter trained and are great pets, we had several over the years and also have a small rabbit boarding business as a side line
your screen is completely different to mine, either you aint got a calsci xl or i aint !
i got mine 2nd hand off a guy from here , so im gonna look into the screen brand and size and maybe check dimensions v their website
Mine is 730 at the widest point. It is called a wide XL Calsci from Heroblobs.
I have had another go at the video on you tube so you should be able to see it now.
I think the bar risers will sort it.
ok , ive sussed the confusion, ive got a XL screen which is 2 inch wider on each side, you have got a WIDE XL screen which is 4 inch wider on each side, you only said at the start of this post that it was a XL, so i assumed it was the same as mine,
guess you will just have to live with it , as you say how often do you actually need the full lock
Contact heroblobs and see if they will change it..
I bought the wrong Laminar Lip from them.. I had ordered the wrong size but he changed it for the smaller size for me.. was no problem to him..
Alternatively is it possible to trim it down with a router and a home made jig?
Just been out and measured my calsci large... Same size as Vipers... So i must have an XL :mfr_lol:
Even buying the wide xl, I'm surprised the bars to clash without prior info in the description as it affects the standard function of the bike.
I've dropped a message to heroblobs as this must be on oversight or they may have used a bike with risers to model the pattern.
Pleased with the quality of the screen and still recommend them
here is the calsci site so you can check your dimensions

- yes , had to do that too. And it never fitted well at all. And no proper rubber grommets to keep the guard from rubbing against the radiator.
- beat me with stick also won't buy anything else from them

You'll be suggesting he removes the levers next :mfr_lol:
To me its a basic design fault which could be construed as safety related, you may think that you don't use full lock very often, but there's always a possibility that you might need to do so
It was either the router option or I was going to pop round with my angle grinder. :whistling:
If it was me the solution would be very simple, I'd just send it back and get a full refund including postage. If you cant get full lock, then its useless and not fit for purpose. Could this affect the MOT? No idea.
I would suggest that it would constitute an offence of dangerous parts, contrary to section 40a RTA 1988. Some other Officers of the law on here may disagree with me on this one but this offence is one which can be applied to so many aspects of a vehicles condition and is so wide in its interpretation that I would not risk getting prosecuted for it. Not a lot of people know this, but two convictions for dangerous parts within (I think) 5 years is a mandatory disqualification. Nobody wants that do they?

i improvised with some rubber o-rings and a piece of rubber for the lower bracket to remove movement / try and prevent rubbing on the radiator

MGvalerio.
I also at to adjust the horn to accommodate the beowulf rad gaurd on the gtr and on the zzr, I removed the rad guard of my gtr and put it on the zzr they are the same rad gaurd, just asked beowulf to send me some strips of sticky felt to apply to the edges of the gaurd to keep the gaurd off the radiator. fits well and dose a good job of protecting the radiator from stone chips I also use a powerbronse mudgaurd extenda
Hi,these screens are different.I think one is the standard large, and one the later extra large.Risers should take the bars just far enough back to eliminate the problem.I have the Calsci large clear, and have no issues.I did consider the XL,but thought it might be too much strain on the lifting gear at full height as its pretty sizeable.
Risers made no difference, heroblobs exchanged the screen for a normal width screen with no hassle.
All fitted and waiting for some slightly dryer weather to get the ol girl out to blow the cob webs away :cheesy:
Excellent. don't forget the pics...we require evidence :mfr_lol:
CalSci changed their screen sizes last year.
Prior to that the XL was the same size as the current L, ie 5.75" taller and 2" wider.
The new XL is 2" taller and if you bought the WIDE XL then it is 4" wider at the bottom than the XL and 2" wider at the top.
The Wide may foul the levers. I've never seen one so cannot comment.
The standard XL (+5.75" or +7.5" over 2008/9 screen height) should not foul the levers, up or down.
The sizes are all here.

This is the old XL (new L) on my bike.

George I wish you would stop posting pics of your bike as I so want your seat....
That screen looks very good on the GTR George, I would have expected it to appear much bigger.......nice one

Lonewolf, I agree, it could well be deemed as using a vehicle in a dangerous condition. It has a discretionary disqualification, for one offence, and obligatory disqual for 2 offences within 3 years.
Send it back and get one that's fit for purpose...
- stock Ducatis from the factory were famous for trapping your hand against the fairing at full lock.

So do I. Bagman has it way down in Cornwall and his better half won't let him sell it back to me.
I have a spare seat now so when I feel the need (and have £400 spare) I will ship it to California and get another one made up.
If you want to get your own, see http://www.day-long.com/ (http://www.day-long.com/)
First ride with the screen and risers today. Loads better - handling at low speed is a lot easier and zero head buffering
