Saw this on a programme, it looks good and has some useful features.

Steve, the Go Pro is a very good camera, which I've used for some time,(I thought you had too) it's also used extensively in making T.V programmes. you know on board action stuff.

But I have to say that this little item seems to be better specified and maybe more suited to biking, there is a remote wrist control which is handy and I beleive its WiFi compatable etc etc,

The Drift may also be easier to mount on your person or in areas of your machine which is sometimes a bit of an irritation with the Hero

just found it here....cheaper

This is what the gadget show said about the GoPro.

This also came out with a good review.

Yeah, Roger, I still have a Go Pro 2. I love it, at the moment its rigged up in the car. Living in Bradford you see some horrendous standfords of driving and it's good to recap on all the near misses later and think, bloody hell, that was a close shave.  :mfr_lol:

hi guys, ive had the older drift hd model for about 3yrs now, bought it for off roading with the enduro bike,,on the hardest and bumpiest of tracks this model is first class, with crystal clear film due to the fish eye lens you can see i think about 160 degrees,,,only slight down side if your chasing someone close n you hit puddles/thick clingy mud etc, if it lands on the lens you wont pick up very clear images. I usually mount it on my goggle strap, but make sure you tape it on with insulation tape or simular because if your out on green lanes etc an you get close up to over head bushes/hedges/tree branches it is possible that it will come loose or worse loose it. Mate has tried it on his boot facing forward, also facing backward, this is really good as it shows the suspension recoiling/chain streaching also stones muck etc churning up along with some impressive overtakes. Ive also seen loads of go-pro stuff on youtube, these also are impressive, only down side of the go-pro from a green laning side of things is the top of helmet mounting point,(this wouldnt last very long as it would be ripped off during riding under tree branches etc), hope this has helped guys

here ya go jenros......that's another beer token for me  :mfr_lol:

very good quality, I'm impressed, and you say that wasn't filmed in HD, so I can only assume that the latest model HD camera is even better

There was some pretty rough stuff on that trail and I certainly wouldn't want to take a detour over the edge to the right

Some time ago I purchased one of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Key-Fob-Ring-Chain-Spy-Hidden-Mini-Camera-DVR-Keychain-Cam-Supports-up-to-32GB-/221164818311?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item337e734f87

They are very cheap but do provide a reasonable picture, the big advantage is that I can velcro the fob to one of the fork legs on a classic bike and get really good film, well reasonably good film, without the trouble of clamping brackets etc to the bars

Personally I've never been a fan of cameras on helmets and especially not the Go Pro as it is quite bulky, but one of the new generation smaller cameras is a different proposition

Anyhow I can't a££ord another camera just now so it'll have to wait

well i didnt know they did those that small!-going back to the drift camera,,,in the kit comes a load of various mounts,,handlebar mounts, one that replaces the front brake or clutch lever clamp as a ram mount, this is great, only thing is you have to have a extension piece because it catches the screen on tight turns on the gtr,but just rise it a few inchs and its fine, also if its behing the screen it takes away the wind noise,,,these cameras pick up every little piece of noise. We will be going out for a play on the dirt bikes boxing day,i will try an have a go of putting some on youtube an i will let you know,,,try being the word,,me an computers just dont mix very well! lol. have a good christmas,an hopefully a dry sunny new year

Just watched that video and I dont believe that some of that was shot at 1080 resolution as the picture quality was very poor. I have owned a couple of HD GoPro's and the image quality of mine, day or night is significantly better than what I've just watched on the video link. Also the Go Pro has a spot meter mode for better exposure when shooting from a dark environment towards a lighter environment, i.e. at night, from a dark interior of a car towards a street lit scene, was that used?
I view these assessments with a pinch of salt.  :nono:

:agree: Its also possible to buy a filter for the GoPro which eliminates direct sunlight

well the drift camera has something built into it that if your filming right into direct sunlight, the sun looks like  black small dot and every thing around it is clear, even on the rough ground on a dirt bike.- :listencarefully:not pushing the drift camera in any shape or form, just saying from my own experiance with it :sweatdrop:

Point taken, and yes the GoPro filter has the same effect on direct sunlight.

Its amazing how cameras have developed in the last couple of years, they get better, more technical and more a££ordable all at the same time
