Hi, picking my 2011 GTR up on Monday, getting it in the new metallic green colour, looks ace. Previous bikes have been: Yamaha 200 Electric, Suzuki 250GT, Suzuki 380GT, then a 'bit' of a break, Yamaha 750 LTD, Yamaha 900 Diversion, Honda CBR1000, Kawasaki ZX9R, Honda VFR800, Kawasaki ZX9R, BMW R1150GS, BMW R1200GS, Kawasaki ZX12R, Triumph Speed Triple 1050 (traded in for the GTR).
Great forum, loads of good info on the bike, looking forward to contributing as and when.
Cheers
Richard
Werrhayyy .. Hello Richard and welcome to this great forum ! We have something in common ..... I am just off to walk the dog then down to the dealer to pick up exactly what you are going to collect on Monday ... very excited, it's like being a child again !
Looks like you have had a few bikes over the years .... enjoy !
Happy Days Bondu...enjoy the new Green monster (interested to see what it looks like).....
Both of you (Lord Rusty & Bondu) lucky buggers for getting new bikes....very envious
Welcome by the way ;D
Bondu, congratulations on the new acquisition, very lucky indeed to be in a position to get a new GTR. Make sure you post some pics of it on here when you take delivery, that goes for Lord Rusty too. (If we can get him off his new bike when he collects it). Bondu, whereabouts are you based and if you fancy the trip in August to Wales dont hesitate to let me know and I'll book you in.
Oh and almost forgot, welcome to the forum. ;D

Ohooo....just think of all that drive out show room money your losing. I never ever buy new Bikes or cars....just lose so much money.
My GTR 5,000 miles (not even run in)....£7,250. No waiting for it to run in....just twist & go.
Still , it's my choice , do enjoy. Remember , it's never yours till you ding it....!
Hey Mr Ziderman ... I know what you are saying ...you loose lots of money as soon as you ride out the showroom but I just like the idea that no one else has thrashed the tits off my bike except me ... an expensive thought I know but there you go ! Plus the fact i tend to keep my bikes ( and those 4 wheeled things ) for a good few years so not too bothered. Keep safe.
I'm just jealous....that's the truth of the matter..LOL I did think about new , but then the one I got came up. Was registered to a Woman in Somerset.
Just parted with 9k for a Citroen C4 Picasso , same thing , low millage right price.
Take your Point Lord about keeping vehicle for long time. Reckon 2 to 3 years my max.
>:( Wasn't ready on Monday >:(
Now picking it up tomorrow, had a sit on it and fiddle with the controls today, the new metallic green really suits the bike. can't wait till tomorrow, feel like a kid again 8)
Bah, humbug! I know that new stuff loses money as soon as you move it, however I'm very happy with the deal I got trading in my Speed Triple, and, like Lord rusty, like the idea that no one else will have rung its neck before I climb on.
Pics soon I hope.
good luck with your new bike. I bought new on a 60 plate, the magnesium one. by the way! I also had a yamaha rd200 and rd250, the gt250 and the gt380 in the middel to late seventys. all great bikes, do miss that 2 stroke smell :)
;D I cracked 100 miles through the rain and snow, what a cracking bike, really stable, not a twitch from the 021s. Roll on spring!
Hi Bondu and welcome to the forum
Enjoy the bike. I was looking with envy at the green 2010 model today. Fantastic bike - enjoy the ride!

Most modern Engines can take a hammering. Why are you not going to hammer yours a bit?
you can tell if it's been abused , plenty of tell tale signs.
Mine was one Lady owner , very very low Millage. Nothing Ba humbug about saving yourself some dosh. I could buy new , no worries, but I dont like throwing money away. Let some one else run it in for you.
if you can aford new, buy new. and why not! where along time brown bread, and you cant take it with you ;)
Sure can afford one , it's all that fannying around running it in too & to be honest(my luck I guess) the only time I have ever had problems with Vehicles is when I have brought new. So guess that put's me off too.
the running in dose not bother me! for example the gtr 1400 in top gear at 4,000 revs is approx 80 m.p.h, even taking the gtr1400 up to 4,000 revs between gears is more than quick enough for the average ride and road, also after just 600 miles you can take it to 6,000 revs, then after 1,000 miles well! of course you dont really need to run theses engines in. if you dont want to, providing you dont red line everywhere, revs the balls out of it when cold, and change the oil and oil filter every 3,000 miles, theses engines should be good for 100,00 miles plus. :) have bought many used bikes over the years, some have bought and repaired and sold on as a hobby. and some have bought as my main bikes! but thought its about time, I treated my-self to a new bike and car :)
Easy ! Computer generated engines will just go on and on and on ... just keep the oils and filters changed and it will outlast the bodywork !
fully agree mr rusty! theses are car size engines pulling a 3rd of the weight, providing your not a big porker ;D I had a zrx1200 for 5 years and screwed its neck most of the time, never had one single problem with it, I just change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles, a mate at work still as his zrx1200 as a second bike with 67,000 miles on the clock, and it still goes like the dam clappers! kawasaki make good strong robust and fast engines! another excellent engine, was in my 1998 honda cbr 600 fw, now that took some serious stick on and off the track, 47,000 miles and it still went like the dam clappers when I sold it!
My mates Pan European - its probably done 170k now. Modern engines just go on and on and on ...
Still wouldn't have one though. WTF wants to ride a big scooter?

A tad harsh!
Gotta say if it was 'you can have one bike for the rest of your life' the ST13 would be it
also have a mate who has a st1300 58 plate! we wind him up saying its a armchair on wheels, but he a pan man through and through! hes also had a few st 1100s before the st1300. but yes, dam good bikes with dam good engines. may get one to suit my zimmer frame in a few decades ;)
I've always fancied a Goldwing. In fact I was looking at a couple in Colin Appleyards at Keighley only this week.
I know some-one who sold their Blackbird and bought a shiny new new Goldwing with all the bells and whistles....6 months later he chopped it in, as it just wasn't exciting enough...he now owns another blackbird :(
300 miles now, chuffed to bits with this great machine ;D
Looks very nice indeed, your garage door just needs a lick of paint ;D
Well I certainly wont be buying another one looking at that Photo...Personally & it's my opinion only. They now look Ugly...what's with the Side Fairing. To me the most attractive part of the Bike....now looks like it's only part complete. Sorry , thumbs down from me.

Take it you mean the 'vents'? I prefer the earlier (mine) model - the new one looks too 'organic', but it's not exactly a munter!
