Thank you All.

Very gutted.  I do lots of silly antics all year, then crash 400 yards from home.  :-(

GTR is pretty damaged, Front Left, lower and upper fairing, nose fairing, mirror, footpegs, gearlever and hanger, Clutch Level and Top Box.

Ankle is swealling up nicely  :-)  going to take a little while for that to heal.  but at least I have Christmas.

Thanks again all.

Neil
(especially Debs for posting this..x)

Hi All

Images of my poor GTR. actually, hopefully its not that bad.

Cause, wet leaves that have been there for 6 weeks, rode over them everyday as I don't have any choice, but thats the thing, you do the same thing for weeks and one day, something different happens.  I've ridden over these leaves in Rain, Snow, Ice, temperatures down to -8 degrees.

I guess thats life.

Thanks All again.

Neil

cant post pictures - saying fail security checks.  Debs, can you steal the 2 pics from FB and post please.  Thanks.  NWT

Feck man, sorry  bout the off, too easily done.

Probably looks worse than it actually is, but the acres of plastic do make it look expensive... I'd be lookin on ebay or breakers for them bits.

Glad to hear your not too hurt. That's the only good thing, would have been worse had you hit something.

Look on the bright side .... now you've got something to occupy your nights.

Get well soon.
Al.

- argh ... at least you're okay.

- when big (and heavy) bikes go down , its often bad.

- did your front go first , or the rear ?

To be really honest, I really don't know and can't remember.

But, the amount I hurt and ache, and the damage to the bike it could have only been a highside.

wet leaves, that I have ridden over for weeks, caught me out.

:-(

GTR will be re-built hopefully.  its all three panels, nose cone panel and footpegs.

Sounds nasty. Were you going over them at a constant speed or did you accelerate? I almost got caught out once when I accelerated on leaves. The rear just went. I don't know if traction control would have helped either.

Hey Neil really sorry to read that you had "an off" but as others are saying the main point is that you will mend and any injury is not long lasting or too serious ... I hope !!!!

Guess you won't be dancing around on New Years Eve then ??  :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

Seriously ... hope all is on the mend .. take care.

Bad Luck Neil, hope your pains go away quickly, i hope you go through insurance it may have done more damage than just plastics, sorry to be negative but i am thinking on the safe side.

As much as I don't want to, insurance is the best way to go.  Good thing is, I have 6 years no claims which is protected.

The leaves are only 5m of the junction.  I know I entered the junction slower than normal because, I remember saying to myself why di you do that, so I ended up in the middle of the road.  I don't remember a lot from there.

I do know, that some how, with a damaged ankle, I picked the bike up, put it on the side stand, collected all the bits (apart from the mirror glass) and put them in the topbox, then got back on the bike, said "bollox" or something to that effect as the foot peg was snapped off and the clutch lever was bent, then road the bike the 400 yards to my house.

at which point, I put the bike on the side stand and hobbled into the house and said " I've crashed the GTR", I was very heavily concused and didn't really remember anything.  helmet was very badly scratched.

Bloody Hell Neil, adrenalin obviously kicked in helping you to lift the bike, then ride it all with a badly damaged angle

UPDATE:

2013 didn't start too well.  New Years Eve, went back to have a check up and things are not healing as well as they would have liked.  therefore I am now in plaster!  no more work for 4 weeks :-(

But its getting better.....  Bournemouth Kawasaki have been authorised to repair the bike!  :-)  Yeh haaa......  So the bike will be back before I can ride it.  :-)

Thanks to everyone for keeping my spirits up!

Arrrgh!  Just found this thread!  Just wanted to say sorry to read about this - and I hope that your ankle gets better very soon.

GTRs don't look so good when they've been thrown down the road.... :(

take care!
