Title: few hours out today!
Post by: 2kwacks on December 09, 2012, 03:58:59 PM
with the weather being :shit: of late.. thought I would take avantage of "the not to bad weather today" and take my new steed for a ride  I'm running it in at the moment so it's to early to compare this model with my previous df8 2008 model. it seems alot smoother than the previous model  but will need to wait till the beast is run in before I can stretch its legs and compare it with my df8 model. only took one pic  which won't please the wolf  but it was warmer on the bike than standing around :smiley

Nice looking bike - not sure whether or preferred the full on metallic green colour but still a handsome bike. Collected the tank cover from post office yesterday.  All good so will fit when I've got a spare hour or so.
Thanks for that, I may just get a tank bag now.

TT

Ian.. it would be a waste if you never used a tank bag  I find the minear tank bag which is the medium size which is 12 ltrs unexpanded and 21 ltrs expanded and is big enough without the need to expand and it's not to bulky, and yet.. it still big enough when unexpanded to get all the essentials and alot more that we need in a hurry  I've tried the next size up which is the Alpha design, but found it to be to bulky even when unexpanded, just a thought  to save you buying something that may not be right for you. p.s the tank bag in the pic on my zzr1400 is the small tweety design which is dam handy for those local ride outs

yes I do tend to agree on the powder coated black looking better  the full carbon looks to much! it may be just the light shining on them will need to view the carbon in the "flesh" before I decide  Akrapovic are  but not that much  er as far as the cost is concearned  take a look at this  and if you want road legal it's an extra £218.50 double  http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/98583 there plenty of after market exhausts out there that are just as  and sound just as good

hi 2 kwacks i know the stock exhausts on the zzr look a bit large!!but after a while i got used tp the look of them.kawasaki must have spent time on the design ect of these pipes. you have spent a lot of money to buy this bike ,will the new pipes not effect the running or warranty on your bike.

kawasaki have designed the standard exhausts to comply with the strict emissons, and can't see how just the after market cans using the standard header pipes would void your warranty or damaged the engine  even kawasaki themselves use after market cans on certain special editions models, which have the same fueling specs for the standard exhaust. which the after market exhaust is not change over till the bike is sold at the dealers, my zx6r had a akrapovic end can on fitted at the dealers, they removed the standard exhaust and fitted the after market exhaust it did not effect the running of the bike or void the warranty or need re-mapping, also the zzr1400 did a special edition model with the same cans that were factory fitted, also suzuki do the hayabusa with factory fitted yoshimura end cans as a special edition model, road legal i.e "with the db killer inserted" end cans connected to the original header pipes will not effect the running of the bike, they are designed not to need any re-mapping, I'm not changing the header pipes just the end cans  theses cans are tested out on a dyno to ensure they don't effect the running of the bike. I had a aftermarket remus on the gtr and that did not alter the running of the bike either. it also states in the description of the exhaust cans, that there is no need to re-map.. and qoute.. from this link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150950888529? qoute.. "designed to give maximum power without the need to alter the fueling"

I had Akros on my 2007 ZZR 1400, looked awesome and sounded just as good

I do agree with dave though as they are very pricey..........but as they say "you pay your price and take your choice"
