Title: Now the battle begins
Post by: O.C. on December 01, 2012, 11:56:17 AM
For some months now I have been none too well, in fact since last September I have actually now lost over 22% of my total body weight, the effects of which have been to leave me extremely weak, and even more grumpy than usual, (which is saying summat)  I even partially lost my eye-sight for a while which was very scary.

I currently don't even have the strength to lift my beautiful GTR onto its mainstand, I just can't do it, and consequently I haven't ridden the bike since late September. :ohplease:

So, hopeful that things are now in control, as a full day of tests in hospital yesterday seem to confirm, I will have to literally build myself up again in preparation for next seasons biking.

Luckily I have lighter 1970s Triples here that I could use, but TBH I don't feel that I would be safe enough just yet to ride even them at this stage.

The target is to get up and ready for the end of March 2013, when we might expect a couple of days sunshine  :mfr_lol:

What I want to avoid is the idea of changing my GTR for a smaller and therefore lighter bike, although a Versys 1000 would probably do the job, and is a damn fine bike.

So here goes, as much excecise as I can manage coupled with my healthy eating regime, and a realistically achievable target to get back on what can only be described as one of the very best bikes available in GREEN  :mfr_lol:

Wish me luck

Roger, obviously very serious, but from what you have put above it seems that matters are under control to some degree and I sincerly hope that is the case. Looking forward to seeing you in the New Year, more than likely at The Bridge with the pink armband man.

Thank you all soooooo much for the kind wishes

I'll be back to strength as soon as I can manage, as I don't lack motivation.

Gill and I have just got back from 4 days break in Belgium which was planned ages ago, so it was a well timed and welcome tonic,  we enjoyed every minute, staying in Leper (Ypres) and stopping in Brugge on the way home...it was cold but excellent.

Where did you stay in Ypres OC ...and what sites did you do...

Any photos ?

We stay in Old Tom, right on the square, 100 yards from the Gate and 100yards from the Flanders Fields museum.

We stayed at the Main Street Hotel, which is absolutely beautiful, they looked after us like royalty, we shall definitely return

The holiday was just that and so we didn't visit any of the WW1/11 sites (I assume that's what you meant), but in late August myself and a group of friends visited loads of sites before ending up in Ypres (Leper). pictures of which are in this thread, I hope I haven't misunderstood your question. apologies if I have ..DOH  :mfr_lol:

It's Ieper (ieper) not Leper. It's the Flemish word for Ypres.

Heal well my friend and do as yer told,... mostly.  :innocent:

Roger.. sorry! must have missed this post, hope everthing works out just fine for you  p.s when the weather picks up will be visiting "the bridge" with my new steed, but defo not before the ice as gone :sweatdrop: the last time I was up at the bridge was on my 2008 zzr1400 and my rear end must have slipped at least "64 times ya know" just remember seeing a set of pink armbands disappearing around the bend in front of me  when I happen to look in my mirror and seen one of the lads heading sliding towards the ditch

Nige I have sold most of my Triples namely the 'special', H1b and S3a, and have now only got a KH500 and my beautiful H2c in the rev shed, plus an F6a or two but they don't count really [/color]

OC .. apologies as I am very late to this thread .... I really hope you are on the mend and your %age of body mass is on the increase .... at a time of year when many are trying to get rid of the pounds you are trying to put them on !
Beer, Kebabs and chips will always help .... with a decent dollop of, as you Northerners say "moooooshy peas" ....  :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
Get well mate.

I'm now feeling and apparently getting better too, the problem has been type 2 diabetes, my sugar levels were at 29.4 which is massively high..... finding the right combination of medication has proved difficult hence all the tests, and there is more to follow as I have to have a full CT scan next week.

Thankfully my eyesight has begun to return to some normality

Rusty, I really like your dietary plan,   unfortunately Beer, Chips and kebabs are now permanently off the menu for me  :mfr_lol:

A new bike arrives here today so I'm getting all giddy about that, and I intend to be back out on the road very very soon
