Title: Sigh
Post by: Kwikasfuki on November 21, 2012, 11:10:49 PM
The other half managed to put £55 quid of unleaded instead of diesel into the car today. £200 charged by the AA to fix it (towed it home today, fuel out tomorrow morning).

Then I come in and find an electricity bill for £250 for the last month (just moved into new house, final bill whilst we change suppliers). Panic mode as I'm sure they've cocked up somewhere. Check the bill and the meter readings are correct. Notice the dial is spinning like mad. Slowly turn everything off at the fuses. Bloody immersion heater has been on all the time.

So glad we didn't pay the asking price for the house. Too many little things that need sorting out. Unfortunately they all add up. Eating into the GTR fund

Asif, hope you weren't too harsh on the wife. Can the unleaded be recycled when its extracted or does it get dumped?

I'd of thought your mansion would have had one of those new fangled condensing boilers rather than an immersion heater, I'd get that ripped out pronto! Perhaps your gardener can use the unleaded in the sit on mower.  :mfr_lol:

Glad you've mentioned the GTR, any developments? Tis a good time to buy at this time of the year.

It'd be contaminated with diesel and unleaded. Doubt it can be reused.

The house has two boilers that work in tandem. I just had to get them replaced. That cost 3k - ouch. The immersion heater is in the unvented water cylinder. It heats up from the boiler and/or immersion heater. Immersion heater is now switched off.

Next year I'll probably get a wood burning stove installed. Plenty of trees around here!

That's bad news Asif, sorry to hear about the leccy bill

But on a brighter note, I hope that you and yours are very happy in your new home

Oh wow... Sorry to hear about that. What a nightmare.  I had similar teething problems in my new house when I bought it in France. Only it was a smellier problem concerning the sewage system....

:censored:

Good luck getting it sorted and don't be too hard on the missus... I doubt she'll do that again!

Cheers

We've had the drains and gutters cleared out. TBH, they need replacing.
In one of the them there was a garden growing.

 new's about the boiler  don't be to hard on her  putting petrol in a diesel tank and vise versa is a regular occurrence where I work. I use to have a double garage till the wife decided to extend the kitchen. she is a green finger fanatic so extending into the garden was not a option  instead she moaned at me that much, I eventually agreed to extend into my garage taking up a dam good 1/4 of the floor space  I can just about get my car and 2 bikes in there now, but it's a dam tight fit so the car mostly stays up the path :hammer:

My garage is a stupid shape... It's a 1 1/2 length garage, so 2 bikes up the far end, with some tyres, two big road cases and my drums with the car up front.  Of course if I need to get at the bike ( or the drums, for that matter) i have to remove the car, which I inevitably scratch with my biking boots...

Obviously I'd prefer a shorter double garage, but then this is an apartment building, so no luck...

Ah.....  the advantage of a company car!  I've filled my Diesel car with unleaded twice and while it was a pain to be delayed etc at least it didn't cost me personally.

The first time was after a bank holiday weekend when id been on the bike lots and probably went for unleaded without thinking. The second was at a sainsbury site where the hoses were strange colours.!

As for garages, I've jsut moved house and now have a single instead of a double so the bike has to be put carefully as close to the wall as i can. A large shed will be going into the garden soon so all the non bike stuff will be moved out and the gtr will again have its own  (well mostly its own) space.

Spose I'm lucky, as one of the considerations for buying my house years ago was the size of what is now known as the Rev Shed, which is plenty big enough for all my toys ...............6mtrs X 6 mtrs, and 5.5 mtrs high to the ridge, Block built, Double Glazed, two floors, heated, insulated and water on tap...its luverly

Am I bragging ?     ...YEP, you betcha   :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: Sorry, I got a bit ahead of myself there.

Roger, the saying if you have it flaunt it comes to mind, I also am a little lucky as I have a double garage with Axminster carpet all round, electric, lighting, good workbench and heated, I quite like spending time in there tinkering.

Do it, Do it, Do it,

I have got the brochure, hopefully too busy and bad weather to take a test drive or I might succumb as others have done !!!

Coman

Its got all the bits that the GTR should have as standard or integrated options.

I would not be looking to change if I could get a screen that works. I need to find a cheap Calsci on e-bay

Yeah...  I've already seen that. last time I watched it I remember thinking that I have never had the front "dive" when dabbing the rear brakes...  What a tool...

Anyway...  this is a KWAKY forum...  I will shut up now - honest.

Might go for a ride this afternoon if the rain holds off :)

It must be a bloody BIG garage, those BMs are massive, they even make a GTR look like a toy.

Unfortunately, there is plenty of room... Maybe I'll post a pic in the garage thread next week :)
