Just negotiating final deal on a new GTR1400 - had a pan st1100 for 6 years so the more modern powerful bike will be fun :biker3:
I also have a GSXR1000 so not worried about the extra power - love the way the bike looks and all the goodies as standard
Oh and its the metallic dark blue one as I notice colour seems to be important to some here
hope to meet a few of you in person soon - I am based West London
welcome to the madhouse I mean forum  congratulations on the gtr you will find a big big difference from your honda st 1100.. ho..! check out our 2013 gtr meet here.. http://www.gtr1400.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,1830.0.html hope to see you there  by the way your gtr is the second best colour on here  with the magnesium grey being first   :whistling:
Hi and welcome for the forum.
Ignore what Dave says about the best colour. Only reason he reckons the magnesium grey is best is cause it matches the colour of his hair. :mfr_lol:
Welcome one and all. You'll enjoy the GTR I'm sure.
welcome bsa1. another new member to the forum
You will find lots of good information on here and all served up in a friendly environment
BTW GREEN is best........don't listen to the rest :mfr_lol:

[/qoute].. matches the colour of his hair. Huff..! don't know where kawasaki get the grey part from, but grey is for distinguished gentlemen so I'm  with it anyway
:185: to the forum BSA1, I'm sure you will enjoy the bike, and the madness of this site, lots of help and assistance when needed. We also have world leading pundits on such things as tyres, screens, and all manner of add ons/ electical gadgets :sleep1:. I just like riding mine, because it's such a great bike. I hope you will do the same. cheers Geoff
Welcome bsa1!
I'm also new to the bike and the forum. And my bikes are Black...
I think all in all, when you take into account the handling, acceleration, speed, braking etc then the blue is definitely the best colour.
Welcome aboard
Mark
:biker3:
Welcome bsa1,
I had a Pan 11 a few years ago and got rid cause it was so boring... :sleep1:, very competent tourer but hardly awe inspiring... the GTR on the other hand might just get the blood going.. specially if you put a pipe on it
As regards the great colour debate... stick a pair of sunglasses and a dark visor on and all the bikes look the same...
Hope you enjoy it.
Al.
Welcome to the forum BSA1
Lots of good and friendly advice on here,
Nice to have you on board BSA man .. especially as you are a southerner .... !!  I work in London and have a brother living down the road from you in Barnes. (Me, Sussex )
When the weather warms up next year I am sure there will be plenty of opportunities for some southern meet ups and rides ... something that the northern contingent do quite a lot when the carrier pigeons are resting !!!!! :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

Hi guys - I'm new to the forum - live in Ascot Berks - just buying a new one now - hope to get next week - already found this forum a fantastic resource and community - it does give one a lot of confidence before buying such a formidable machine.
Hope to see some of you soon at various events!

:185: Ascot Flyer, as ever it really good to see another new member joining this expanding board.
As you have already seen there's lots of friendly banter, plenty good information and occasionally a little piss taking too :mfr_lol:
Keep us informed about your new purchase, and maybe some pictures when the bike arrives in the stable. (no pun intended) :mfr_lol:
Yep .. OC is right .. and Welcome Mr Flyer ... glad you like the forum enough to join in .. shame the weather is meant to be so bad for the next few days .. don't want to get your new bike dirty !
Look forward to hearing all about your new steed ...
Thanks Rusty and Old Coney - am based in Ascot UK, getting the bike (new) next week - it's registered to the dealer but there is only 30 on the clock and I did 24 of them (dealer says I am the only test rider on this demo bike) - attractive discount, invested in the Kawa top box and the 2" helirisers and the extended warranty - that's quite a bike / package for the price compared to new FJR1300 / Trophy's and R1200 RT's which were the 'competition'.
I used to ride the old FJ1200 a lot, and recently a test ride on the R1200 RT (very nice, but 'rough' engine compared to the smooth GTR). Felt a little patriotically disloyal going with the GTR1400 rather than the new UK made (or at least assembled) Trophy - but a) the Trophy is so brand new - perhaps best to wait and see - and b) a few grand pricier!
I'm a fair bit colour blind and don't see colours well but I am told my new GTR is red!

Hi Bryn - mid next week fingers crossed ... :mfr_lol:
Nice one....we are all 'on the edge of our seats' in anticipation of pictures, I'm guessing your new bike will be Candy Arabian Red
Hi OC - I really AM colour blind so have not focussed on colours, but I did just speak to the dealer and he said "Candy Blue" - does that sound right?
Cheers!

According to the Kawasaki UK website the blue is called Midnight Saphire Blue and the red Arabian Candy Red. So it sounds like the dealer mixed that up somehow.
Thanks Mecki - I remember when I called the dealer about this bike he sounded surprised when, in answer to his question of whether I wanted to know the colour (he has three in stock and he couldn't remember offhand the colour of the 'special offer' one I was interested in) I said "not interested!".
Midnight blue it is then!
Midnight Saphire Blue - THE best and fastest colour......for a GTR :whistling:

And far before Green and in a higher league than Silver.. :mfr_lol:
Hi Ascot flyer!
Too much of a coincidence? I was in Daytonas in Ruislip today (ordered the Candy Arabian red GTR) and they were fitting heli raisers with a 12volt power socket and ram mount ball to a '12' plate dark blue metallic GTR.....
They had 3 Gtr's in there - the Blue one, a new unregistered 2011 dark green one and the one that I bought.......
Too spoooooooky! - Pleeeeeease tell me it was Daytonas??!! Anyway - if it is your bike, they soldered and shrunk wrapped the electrics very well and the risers are so good, they're putting a set on mine! Bike looked lovely in blue - amazing metallic flakes. Looks absolutely brand new. Good choice fella. I'm in Iver, so let me know if you fancy a ride somewhere? Box hill or the Ace cafe.....
Cheers.
You're right - it's no coincidence! Picking her up this morning from Daytona Ruislip.
Thanks for that nice info on the risers and Daytona's fitting quality.
When do you get yours?
Great idea re Box Hill / Ace Cafe - back from holidays 10th Dec - will pm you and we'll fix something up. :biker3:
Working my way through Lee Parks's "Total Control" book - haven't ridden bikes since aged 30 ish (now 54) - amazing how much I didn't / don't know (and obviously, back then, was not taught) about basics of cornering, traction control, suspension set ups etc!
Looking forward to improving my technical riding a lot - that plus great tours and new people is what I hope to get out of returning to biking.
In the old days it was just A to B stuff.
Phew!! Thought it was too much of a coincidence! I'm taking my old GTR into them today or tomorrow and picking the new one at the weekend or maybe next week. They're swappping my sat nav over and screen and also fitting the same risers and accessory 12volt socket that you have.
I'm only 5 11" but the risers will make a more comfortable riding position - I very nearly sat on yours in the shop to check them out!! (didn't want to soil the seat for ya.....!)
Im away for 2 weeks from the 23rd Dec - would be great to hook up before hand.
You've chosen a beautiful machine to rekindle your two wheeled passion - they tick every box - excellent mile munchers, effortless smooth power/torque, loads of goodies and decent technology. They also handle better than you'd expect.
Look forward to some pictures of the pair of them. (I may take some pics of yours if it's still there when I go in - she looks really sparkly under the shop lights) If I do, I'll exclude your registration number. I know it's got a '12' in it though!! oops - edit to add: Just re-read your last post and you're picking it up this morning! Enjoy the ride home - cold but dry and sunny.
Oh - if you look in the shop's clothing department, they have top of the range Rukka textiles - only two grand for trousers and jacket!!!!! Bloody expensive but the best you can get in my opinion. If I was to get them in addition, I may as well cut my ball bag open and hand my exposed nuts to the wife to throw in the food blender.......
Women eh? Can't live with them, can't live with them..... blah.... spoilsports.....
Cheers.
Go ahead re pics - no worries re plate.
Will take a look at yours too as will be at the shop in about an hour. What year was your old one?
And will PM you when back on Sun 9th Dec and we'll fix something up. Apparently the weather will be colder but at least more dry over the month ahead!
Hi fella - do you need a lift to the shop? I'll be going there this afternoon on my 2008 black one, but happy to collect you in my car this morning and give you a lift there.
Thanks that's very kind of you but all sorted re wife / trip to mother in law etc. etc.
Cheers!
No worries - I have sent you a personal message with a short note and my contact details.
And remember - it's cold and you have fairly new tyres!!! They have loads of torque at low revs.......!!
Enjoy the day trip mate.

Yeah, but you will have KTRC as well!
I just got a Google Chrome Malware warning on page 2 of this thread
+1
Get a real browser!
Just checked it - all ok from here
Still getting it.
Also Asif, my 'last post' function has stopped working. Takes me to the page, but I have to scroll down. Any ideas?

Weird. I just checked with Google Chrome and can't replicate either issue. Have you tried clearing your browser cache? Do you get the same issue if you use another browser?
You have just spoken Cantonese with a twist...
:mfr_lol:
Try doing the same thing with Intetnet Explorer. Do you get the same issue?
To clear browsing data in Chorme:
1. Type in URL chrome://chrome/settings/
2. Click advanced
3. Under privacy click 'clear browsing data'
Same here and this computer i am on (work) has been turned off for three days while i have been away so its nothing to do with cache.
No worries tho, i have read that page.
Alan
Hmmm... For info, no problems with Chrome on the ShytePad...
Getting the same malware warning on page 2..... using chrome.
Google Chrome has blocked access to this page on www.gtr1400.co.uk.

Actually, I got a Microsoft Security Essentials (Microsoft's free Anti-Malware) alert - assumed it was a false positive.
Anyway, here are a couple of pics of my recently arrived GTR1400 - I think she is great - I don't remember my old FJ1200 of 20 years ago being so heavy to get on the centre-stand, but then I remember I'm not as strong as I was then!
She was registered June by the dealer, but when I go to ride her on the demo she only had 4 miles on the clock.
Sure is a nice looking bike.
Very nice looking bike, now if you can just get your local council to send a road sweeper out for all that crap on the road! I thought it was straw at first! :mfr_lol:
Hi fella - nice steed indeed - and.......same colour as mine (edit: no it's not - yours is blue!!) but 4 years newer! Still reeling from cancelling mine the other day......
However - I took a drive out in the car and went to bykebitz in Yateley and purchased some Daytona heated grips - plumbed them all in and they're toasty!
On the downside, I also bought some Heli risers for the bars - same as yours but without the ram ball and 12v socket. Unfortunately, I can't shift one of the hexagon bolts holding the bars in - it's completely rounded off.......fuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!!
Anyone have an idea to remove the thing? I'm guessing a drill out? Answers on a post card.....!

Sometimes you can use a torx bit that's a tight fit
Tried a torques bit just now - so tight that i had to hammer it in!! Thought I'd have it loosened now...... Nope - it's completeley rounded out now. Tried drilling it and bust 3 drill bits..... things made of ceramic?!! Will have to pop to halfords tomorrow and get more deill bits - or forget fitting the risers and leave it as it is.......which I really dont want to do.
Any other suggestions? Cheers

Mr flyer, It's to your great credit that you can ride a motorbike at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Looking at that first picture, you are obviously severely disabled as we can see that your body and feet are nowhere near in line, how the hell you change gear at all is a miracle. Well done to you sir :whistling:
Lovely lovely looking bike ..well done !
