The folk on here seem to like PR3s, but I didn't think they were any better than Dunlop road smart 2s, or even the original fitment Bridgestones.

Just tried to get a pair of PR3's only to be told there are no back tyres available in the UK and there is a wait of a couple of weeks. Went for a pair of BT23's as I was pleased with them until they squared off.

Hi
I replaced my original Bridgestones at 4k as they were worn out as well as being a poor tyre for the GTR. I fitted Mitchilin Pilot 2,what a differance, they transformed the bike. I have done 8k on these tyres and they are brilliant so I will be fitting MP2 again as I consider 8k out of a pair of tyres is really good and I love the way they handel. In referance to the MP3 are they worth the extra?. Not for me this time but i might consider them next time.
Ihave a mate that has a Kawasaki1000SX which came with the dreaded Bridgstones and they were finished at 3k,guess what he now has MP2 and they have allso transformed this bike as well.
Just as a foot note MP2 fitted are £25 cheaper here in Sunny France....Thats a genaral prive comparison with Mitcheldever Tyres.

PR3s every time for me

*Looks back with nostalgia on the tyre review thread. Those were the days when I had a GTR and was putting serious mileage on it*

I was about to say your getting some serious miles out of your tyres now  :mfr_lol:

Sorry, hurry up and get another bike.

Michelin PR3'S transform the bikes handling. Wet mid size roundabouts go from being a squirmy slippery nightmare to confident swoop around.
No better wet grip and no better milage I reckon. Easily 10,000 miles if you don't mind a bit of squaring off>

10,000 miles    Mine only did just over half of that, they hadn't worn out tread wise they had just deformed alarmingly. After everyone on here raved about how good they were, I decided to give them a go, but my experience with them was not good at all. I never go on m/ways, or duel carriage way kind of stuff, I always ride on A/B roads with lots of bends twists and turns, mixed with lots of bumps, and undulations, and have found that with the GTR being a big heavy bike the kind of riding I do is nothing short of tyre torture. I have stated before that the original tyres deformed far less than the other two sets that I have used, and in fact the bike is back on some originals, which were bought of one of the forum members, and I still think they are a very good tyre.                                               PS  I will be ready for some more soon, so if anyone is thinking of taking the Bridgestones off their new bike I will find them a new home.

Just changed my rear PR3 after 7K miles. As I have put on this forum before superb tyres. And guess what I put on the back? Yep another PR3.
I ride all year round and as others have said these are superb.
Front has done 7K with about 3-4K left.

Thanks Debs.

Bridgestones OEM - pants - 3500 out of a pair - yes including the front. Grade -2
PR2s 6k and 9k.   But really didn't like these, not very confidence inspiring - no feel, but never let me down. Grade -1
Angel STs - were the cheapest, great mileage, not bad feel - would grade these as the benchmark. - 0
Metzeler Z6 previously my favourite tyre 6-7.5k and 11-12k but were expensive Grade +1
Metzeler Z8 "oh yes" says Churchill, but 10k and 15k and now on a level playing field cost wise.

So that sums up over 90000 miles on 3 GTR's in 4 years, 24/7/365 in some of the coldest, wetest, snow filled; and not forgetting the sunniest days of recent years.

Hope that helps

Neil

Oh dear -  its centre tread so you could always plug it, then change it out at somehing like 4k.  Before it gets too worn.

Thats what I would do.

Yes ... a nice bright shiny sharp screw picked up off the streets of London ... I shall plug it this week. I always wonder how they end up either slap bang in the middle or even more strangely when they get in the edge / tyre wall ! Never mind .....

Now you see that would never happen in Bradford, mostly because a certain element of our community  who tend to commute on horses without saddles whilst pulling a cart full of discarded crap would have weighed it in at the scrapper s.
