They live amongst us

this guy was lucky when a deer picked a fight with him, at least he managed to stay upright.. the deer wasn't so lucky as the biker found out when he went to back to find the culprit spread all over the road. the biker in the 2nd clip didn't get off so lightly.

Wow......
I felt sorry for the dear, the guy in the second clip was batting on a bit and didn't really leave himself any margin for error.
There's plenty of the little beggars up here, and they do have that habit of launching themselves out in front of traffic, with the consequent damage

steve.. I would say both riders where battling along  the second rider didn't stand a chance of staying upright  he had just started to bank his bike over for the left hander when he hit the deer full on..! the first rider was very lucky not be catapulted off his bike, but I think that's down to the fact he was not leaning his bike at the moment the deer struck, it also looks like the deer just clipped his front off side on a slight angle
I hit a pheasant on Tuesday. It was -5C and dry, so I was taking it fairly easy, but still doing, ahem, 60+mph.
Luckily it didn't hit the bike, just me. Bounced off my bicep and chest. Felt like I'd been punched by Mike Tyson. It still hurts to cough or laugh and as for sneezing, well, I would scream but that hurts too!
At least deer don't fly.
seems like a good idea to me, if they just moved the deer crossing up the road to a safer point, maybe they could combine it with a school crossing :whistling:
well those bee's dam hurt when they hit you in the kipper at 60 m.p.h.. ho..! my significant other half thought this was hilarious but I didn't  when I went through my dark period and bought myself a kawasaki vn1600 cruiser  thought may as well look the part  so also bought the kelva jeans, leather black jacket, cruiser boots, the neck scarf and which I soon find was a big mistake  "the open faced helmet" well there I was, enjoying a really hot summers day cruising along minding my own business looking the part  doing about 60 m.p.h when I just caught this over sized bee heading towards me :sweatdrop: just had enough time to turn my head to the side, it smacked into my right cheek then the bastard stung me 3 times  by the time I managed to pull over safely.. well it must have been a tough bastard  because the sod was still alive when I removed my helmet in a hurry I might had, then the cheeky bastard stung me on my hand as well just for good measures  I had a bruised cheek where it struck me and 3 red marks where the bastard stung me  sold the cruiser after that thou :mfr_lol:
was riding my bike at about 70 mph in greece with a shirt on when a bee hit me square in the chest , which was not protected by my shirt , the ensuing lump took 2 years to completely go and just kept getting re-infected .
It's gone from a recording of a silly bint ringing a radio station to get deer signs moved to tales of bee strikes
Who'd have thought it!

well we're still on topic kind of.. at least it's still about hitting things that tend to get in the dam way :mfr_lol:
My Daily commute takes me through Sherwood Forrest and Clumber Park, you can bet i see deer at least twice a week, they are usually in the fields but only once i have seen one on the side of the road, i can imagine the mess should anyone hit one at any speed, they are larger than you think.

True, they are larger than you might think, we have quite a lot of Roe deer in this neck of the woods (no pun intended) and they can weigh in at around 30Kgs, however if you are fortunate enough to see the Red deer variety, and truly unfortunate enough to collide with one of them, then I think you will need lots of armour and even more good fortune as they can weigh well over 200 Kgs ~ Stags have bloody big antlers too....OUCH.
I hit a deer a little over 2 years ago on my previous bike. Probably doing 55-ish on a country road, and it leaped out from a farm gate straight in front of me. Shortened my bike by about 8 inches, and made a right mess of the plastics. They are definately big, heavy animals.
The deer got up, looked at me quizzically, then bounded back into the field.
I am very wary these days down country roads, particularly at dawn and dusk which I am told is prime time for deer collisions.
Martin.
I hit a Deer on the motorway. It was on the other side of the reservation, it hopped over and went straight into my car. Damaged the wing. I was more concerned about the welfare of the Deer, but it was no where to be seen. Doubt the poor thing survived though :(
Once hit a deer in Germany many years ago. I was on the autostrata in the middle of the night, doing just under 160kpm and passing a lorry when the thing jumped straight over the central reservation directly in front of me. Had absolutely no where to go. Luckely I was not on a bike, but in a hired Ford Sierra. The whole of the front of the car disintegated which is probably what happened to the poor animal. By the time I had brought the car to a holt on the hard shoulder there was no way I was going back so contacted the police who took care of everything including getting a tow truck out to take me off the motorway. Just think what would have happened had I been on a bike
Sadly when a deer is struck by a vehicle even if it is only slightly injured they basically scamper off and then collapse with shock and then quite rapidly die.

I clipped the face of a Stag with the handle bars of my GTR once. The police said what did it look like after the crash.
I said "NO EYE DEER"...
Best I get my coat.
I'll call for a nurse :mfr_lol:
Deer oh Deer these are getting bad :embarrassed:
A GTR1000 owning friend hit a deer in his pickup.
Some 45 mins later someone drove past and helped tow the carcass off the pickup so that they could get out.
Injuries - none, deer - deceased, pickup - totalled.
Clarifications - Pickup was an F150, took place in Maine, deer was a 600Kg male Moose.
That said a collegue of my dads destroyed his Jag XJ6 hitting a Stag at 60Mph on the A39 near Nether Stowey.
He had some minor head injuries but the Stag made it 5 miles across the Quantocks with a broken leg and pelvis before the Ranger caught up and shot it.
MMMMmmmmmmmmm,.... VENISON!
i clobbered a Nissan Micra'swing mirror with mine while filtering today.... Does that count?

Depends if you got off, shot the driver and loaded him or her up on the BBQ for dinner or not...
