Title: After market seats
Post by: phippsy on October 15, 2012, 12:45:06 PM
Could anybody suggest which after market seat is best. I am looking for standard height and one which is good for pillion use. Maybe Corbin or Sargent?

I have the Corbin Seat... Its not cheap but very comfortable for me.

Russell seats are supposed to be very good.

debs loves her corbin, but id say do plenty more research on corbin before you buy one, i know countless guys over on the american forum that find the seats too hard , ive heard very little good stuff about them and their afttersales is very poor if the seat comes apart ect.

the russel all day long, ive heard again on other forums, nothing but praise, they are considered to be THE most comfortable seat going, they have a price tag to match.

sargent seats seem to be ok, also top sellerie.

most guys get a local upholster to re work their seat, such as Tony archer in huddersfield

Gel seats seem to be unpopular with some guys , gel is a bit too firm for some, the material of choice seems to be cellular foam, not memory foam, thats a very different product and not suitable for bike seats. If you do have your own seat done look at the option of putting in a heated seat pad, ive done this and love it

Thank you for that advise. Very much appreciated. I had a Sargent on my previous bike, but it was expensive but good. So I will look at all suggested types.
Cheers.

:agree:..............I've had a couple of different types but have settled on the Kawasaki Gel option (no pun intended), yes, its a tad firm, but once its got used to your arse and your arse has got used to it, all is well. Its slightly lower and for some crucially narrower which improves your chances of having your feet flat on the deck.

I bought a Top Sellerie http://www.topsellerie.com/ (http://www.topsellerie.com/) seat a few months ago and so far I'm very happy with it.
It is quite firm but comfortable, looks great and for just over £200 it was not too expensive either.
Of course the real test will come next year when I go down to the south of France again, but it has passed the Newcastle - Hartside - Devils Bridge and back via Stanhope and Corbridge test without a problem.
