Having never used them,  its always interesting to hear how different GTR riders adapt to the addition of bar risers

Are they more comfy, what's the main difference to riding position/comfort, is there more wind noise, do they affect mpg as a result of turbulence, some riders already have back problems, do they help ?

We're all different shapes and sizes and all sit or slouch differently when on the bike, I feel to have become comfortable with the standard set up

I tried 2" risers and didn't like them.
Just didn't feel right. Bit like a Raleigh Chopper.

Now! Phil's wedges do make the riding position more relaxed.
It might be handy to note that I'm 5'5"

Heli Bars 2" risers with 0.75" rear offset.

Found it gave a more comfortable riding position, but I am 6' 2", old (although not as old as some on here) and arthritic. I combined the risers with a Calsci XL screen so although a more upright riding position I improved the wind protection as well.

i had 2 inch genmar risers on my zzr1200, it took most of the pressure off my wrists . ive never felt the need on the Gtr as its such an upright ride anyway

If you plan to mount the sat nav mount with the risers, Im sure you will need to buy some extra long bolts. Not sure if the bolts with the risers will be long enough to accomodate the mount as well..  Check this when you get the items...

Extra long high tension bolts available from fleabay.

Howdo Rog
Most folk do worry about me im afraid , i mean who else would sell a 2yr old Gtr to but an 18yr old Fj1200  :mfr_lol: ....... but it running sweet and only ABS to sort, fitting a givi at the moment, so i can take it on its first rally in couple weeks up Buxton way,the new screen from owners club works just as the Gtr's ( dare i say better......... no better not )  but obviously it not electric , bike as you know only had 3250mile on it when i got it but now up to just over 5k mile,  did 400mile last wk end and wanted more. ..... not even the new trophy is tempting me from the Fj.
hows you ? hope ure feeling better....
ok enough thread jacking , sorry folks  :innocent:

Ok Folks,

Just fitted my new Genmar 2" risers tonight, took about 20 minutes, and for anybody wondering what difference it makes I took a couple of pics....

Considering they cost nearly £100 they don't wast any money on fancy packaging....

Photo's were taken on a fixed tripod to try to maintain the same angle, unfortunately the bike moved on the main stand a fraction as I was turning the bars to get everything fitted ok.. but it's not out much.
To see the difference it's best to save the pics to your own computer and then use your own image viewer to flick from one photo to the next...

Before.... forgot to put the mirror back into position..

After...

Haven't taken it out yet and even though it does look very high it feels better when sitting on it. Definitely feels a more natural posture... just have to get the seat sorted now..  :undecided:

I say...

That's an interesting collection of torture devices you have up on the wall there...

Risers look good too. They make a surprising difference.  Hopefully less wrist pain on long rides!

Too much junk in this garage, fed up catching my clothes on the nails in the wall, keep promising myself to clear it out but never get around to it... like a lot of things..

Its clear to see the difference between before and After shots, and it'll be good to hear what you think when you've had chance to put them to the test

We wait with baited breath      :mfr_lol:
