Title: Schuberth c3 and autocoms
Post by: viper on October 07, 2012, 07:20:24 PM
as there are a few of you on here with C3's and im assuming Autocoms, my questions is will my autocom i had in my s1 go into my c3 ok, in terms of the mik boom and the flip up element of the helmet, or will i need a different boom mic

I used the normal mic mounted on the left side of the helmet. I put a thin bead of super glue along the length of the stem and then put the padding over it. Worked a treat and no need to buy an alternative boom mic. Without the superglue I found that the mic stem would continually slip down and out of position.

When I came to remove the mic it was easy enough to do and caused no damage to the internal shell of the helmet.

thnks wolfman, so you super glued the stem to the inside on the helmet and then put padding over that ?

I fitted the standard boom to my C3. Got the wife to run some cotton around the boom to the liner at the edge

I'm assuming that the Autocom mic boom isn't much different from the Starcom version

I use Starcom in my C3 and its boom/arm just slipped into the left side of the helmet and when the inner padding is buttoned down its nice and tight..never moved in fact ...no need for any glue.

OC, unfortunately the padding on my C3 wasn't that taut that it held the mic stem sufficiently. Might sound a bit crude using super glue but it was fine, once the padding was back in place it looked and behaved just fine.

I can only guess that the booms are different in some way Steve.

thanks deb , but id never have that option, they cost nearly as much as the helmets and id need two of them, plus i dont like bluetooth things that have to be charged up and use vox. I like the hard wire system of my autocom and i have set it up on open mic with a dash switch to cut  the power, them vox systems are so annoying

I've tried the SRC system and the sound quality is quite poor.

You haven't tried a BT2 then.  :mfr_lol:

What's a BT2?
That's another popular (cheap) bluetooth on-the-helmet comms system.
I have one of those on my Shoei Multitech and not only does the battery go flat after 8 hrs the sound is so bad that you can hardly understand a word when moving faster than 30mph.
Compared to the BT2 the SRC is superb!
Not good enough to listen to music and at high speed at least my C3 is still too noisy to understand GPS instructions clearly but I am quite happy with the SRC system.
The best thing is you don't have to install anything in the bike or glue anything onto your helmet and the battery lasts all day.

if you have had a hard wired autocom before then everything else will seem poor by comparison. the only advantage of blue tooth as far as i can see is no wires. we moved over to a  scala system last year and although it did work it was poor in comparison , charging it up was a pain and the vox activation drove both of us crazy , having to make quite a loud nosie to fire it up.

hard wire , open mic is the best option in my opinion,

:agree: My Starcom system is hard wired into the helmets, The Zumo is Bluetoothed to the Starcom, audio is superb
