I. In Stockholm and at a dealer here today i found a bags connections tank bag. They say it will fitt my GTR but im not sure.
http://www.twistedthrottle.com/imagecatalogue/imageview/18281/?RefererURL=/trade/productview/7284/844/
This is the "trial" bag and its listed as it will fit but the bag i found is a "trial ql" and cant find any refrences to this.
Sorry for the doubble listing, here and in general but leaving town tomorrow and would like to get it before i leave if it will fit.
I would guess that the "QL" means Quick Lock
So Trail and Trail Ql are the same bag.
Make sure to buy the fitting to mount the bag.

I had one of these from my last bike and it fitted the GTR but was too close to the back of the tank for my liking. You have to seat it well back because of the shape of the bag. In the end I sold it and fitted one of the GIVI Tanklock bags which was bigger and also had a flatter base. That seems to fit really well and they are slightly cheaper so worth a look.

How much storage do you folks need?? Me and the missus did three weeks with just the panniers and std. top case...
Ok, we didn't stray too far from a washing machine, but hey... A tank bag as well? :mfr_lol: :whistling:
Tank bag great for 'bits' - passports, camera, wallet etc.
I like stuff like that to hand.
Easy to take off when parking up going a coffee or the like.
Aye. All the little bits that i bring with me when leaving the bike. When im on a two week camping trip i need the room.
I also use it when i go to work. My stuff barly fits in the other bags. I work on a oilrig and need to bring all my gear with me each time
I like the bags connection equipment it fits well and performs well
I have a 'Trip QL' which is great for day use and a larger XL for use when travelling for longer periods.
heres the XL

Yeah... but that bike is a WEIRD colour :whistling:
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder ya know
GREEN is best :mfr_lol:
:mfr_lol:
But that is closer to Austin Rover British Racing Green, not Kawasaki green...
Is it as fast as Magnesium?

Have a pic? Would love to see what it looks like on the bike.

Here is my Givi tanklock bag

The bag part of the lock is adjustable fore and aft to suit riders belly size.
Only down side is it masks the satnav when on the Kawasaki mount.
I'v always used bagster with all my bikes so decided to go down that route with the gtr as well  the tank covers protect the tank from scratchers/dents and prevent paint tarnishing, also find the medium size minear tank bag is just the right size and dose not get in the way. the minear bag is 12ltr unexpanded and 21ltr expanded. I find that at the unexpanded 12ltrs is more than enough room for my needs. leaving the panniers and top box free for the larger items

I have to say 2kwacks, that looks great! Unfortunately I have the green bike which looks too good to hide under a bagster :punk:
I guess perfection must keep searching

that's quite witty for a "West Berkshireman" but I'm sure bagster do "snot green" colour  :mfr_lol:
Fair point, but I like my snot to be shiny
That looks excellent! GREAT colour too :whistling:
Tried to mount my new Givi T480 tank bag today, but no luck. The quick lock ring will not fit on the 08 gtr as there is not enough room behind the plastic "box" on the tank. I honestly do t like this box, even if its handy. Would the plastic cover from a gtr1400 '10 model fit my 08?
As it is now i can use it but then need to remove the top of the "glovebox". Guess this would be a option for a longer trip on the bike. But it looks like crap when i then take the tank bag off.
Have you tried using nylon spacers to lift the mounting up?
Ive read somewhere that that is what you need to do for it to clear the 'glovebox'
I did think about using a spacer but dont think the fuel cap will open if i do. The givi conector ring is a full circle and not a horse shoe like the bags conection
I read on one of the forums that an early glovebox can fit a later bike with a bit of fettling to the mounting bracket and cable runs. Therefore the later plain cover should fit an early model fairly easily.
Interesting, guess im looking for å new cover to use with the tankbag then. Would be a easy fix then. And better then making a big spacer.
I have not read all these links, but think one of them is it

Actually it was this one, http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=1872.0
but the poster has removed the images, which defeats the object somewhat!
Found it, and even found a copy of that post with pics.
Looks like im looking for a 2010 top tank panel to use when using my tankbag. Have a feeling it would stay on most of the time.
Searched Ebay but no used panel found. If anyone see one for sale please give me a shout:)
Johnny, be wary about considering changing the older glove box for a new one, I tried it and it isnt as simple as it may at first appear. I went to the extent of buying a 2010 + bracket to secure the glove box cover to, it didnt work!
I actually have a spare bracket, never been used and complete if you want it though to give it a try......

Thanx mate. Could be usefull. Think i might want to see what a 10 modell looks like first. As i have never seen one. Hell i never even seen another gtr in real life.
I have done some thinking and if i could borrow a metal turning lathe somwhere i could make myself a new quick lock bracket. One that is 10mm higer then givis original one. Should give enough room to clear the glove box.
Im leaving for work tomorrow. Maybe i should have a look and see if they have any alu or titanium material i could borrow and make one. Maybe it would look strange with such a tall bracket....
Ok, no problem, let me know if you want it. No charge to you, as long as you cover the postage.
Alternatively you could try this....

This is tapered, i.e. deeper at the front than the back and therefore lifts up the accessory mounted on top of it. It was previously installed on a 2008 model GTR with the glove box and I gather along with the normal mounting bracket cleared the glove box.

Long time comming now but i have looked into the tankbag issue again. Wife bought me a givi tank bag and i totaly love it. but ofc it will not fit over the damed glovebox.
Lonewolf i supose this spacer is to use with SW-Motech's quick lock. Im looking into buying there quick lock evo and attach it to my Givi bag. Cant use a spacer like that on the Givi system as that system is a ring and not a "horse shoe" shape. If i did i would not be able to open the fuel cap
Where can i get my hands on a spacer like that?
That's not a Motec quick Lock ring  at least it's nothing like mine
I got the bag and metal plate from Winston it is for a SW MOTECH system.
