I am thinking of getting one as a winter bike, has anyone had a wizz on one, or owned one?. If so report please.
My mate has one that he bought to use for commuting to work and back in order to save time and fuel. He is very impressed with it and uses it more on our runs now than his Fireblade !!!!

the general feeling is that they are a very good bike Geoff, perfect for your winter requirements I would've said, and better looking than the Diversion you once mentioned :mfr_lol:
My mate has one as well and uses it for commuting. Not my cuppa tea, but seems decent enough
- very good bike , but a bit tall + little wind protection.
- you'll end up riding it more than your GTR
.
Ah yes. I was lent one of those when I took mine in for a service...
VERY light indeed compared to the GTR and as narrow as a... well it's very narrow.
Obviously doesn't have the same "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMPPH !!!!" as the GTR but it was fun for a day :)

I had an ER6N as my work bike for 3years, the same engine as the versys, never missed a beat easy 55mpg, lots of torque a really fun bike, and believe me i scared a few sports bike riders, go for it you will not be dissapointed. If you want a bit more weather protection i would look at the ER6F.
I'm with Zedman ... had an ER6 for the day during a service and I have ridden a friends Versys ... both great fun bikes with a bit of poke ... just nice and simple to ride, get you from A to B no problem ... get one.
A mate started his biking with an ER6F, it was a very nice punchy little bike, in that nice metallic Blue
I've done the deed, the nice little fellow will be arriving at the palace some time next week. I was mega impressed with how it went, great little engine, nice and compact, a very decent little thing for sloshing through all the winter salt, and Dales road :shit:. All of which will give the GTR a rest for a few months, so I shall soon be minting it and tucking it up in its own little heated mini palace with the optimate connected.
Enjoy the new bike !! Let us know what you think about it after riding it for a while.

Ah good news old fruit ...

I'm assuming that it is the Versys that you've bought Geoff
Pictures are required.....of course.
Yes Rog bought a Versys, I think it will be a cracking bike, but time alone will tell. But after the 4 hours out on Orrells demonstrator I really liked the way it went about its business. But most of all last winter was the first one without a winter bike for a long time, and I hated it, so I just had to make sure that I put that right for this coming winter. I think the Versys will fit the bill ok.
You will not be disappointed, as previously said great middleweight, you will have lots of fun on it, they like a handfull of revs too, the chain will want some attention though, i was adjusting / oiling frequently, and keep an eye on the water pump casing it has some nooks and crannies for the crap to get in there, i hope you have many miles and smiles on it.

Excellent, is it a new 'un then Geoff ?
Chain-drive winter bike? <shudder>
Get a ScottOiler and a jetwash.
Me, I have an ancient 1989 GTR1000 that I use.
Shaft-drive, excellent fairing and comfy!!
I tried the Versys for size at the dealers where I bought the GTR from.
Height was spot on but my substantial gut nearly covered the tank and the bars were WAY too close.
So, perfect if ya have long legs & short arms. :mfr_lol:
Boomer, that just sums me up 6 feet tall, but short arms. As I said I had the demonstrator for 4 hours and it just felt perfect, no aches or discomfort at all. The chain will only be a minor irritation as I clean and lube it after every ride, just because I call it the winter bike doesn't mean it will have any less love and attention than the GTR, it will be kept in mint condition just like the big fella. Roger yes its a new un, solar yellow, The big K are doing a promotion where they throw in pannier frames, 2 X 35 litre colour matched panniers, colour matched hand guards, a vario screen, and tank protectors. Bike should be making its debut at the Bridge a week on Sunday.
- very good choice for a middle-weight bike.
- and they look great with the Givi V35 colour matched panniers.

OOPS Wrong colour (slightly) Rog, I think that picture is from last years model. The 012 one also has the colours reversed ie the tank and mudguards are yellow, but the fairing side bits are black. Come on Rog dig deeper :mfr_lol:
 well i am olde ya know :mfr_lol:..still looks good though
