The garage where I bought my bike offers a service pack that covers 4 years servicing for £700.
They also do a tyre deal for £150 which covers two fron and two rear tyres over a two year period.
I cant see me doing more than 4k miles a year
They both sound like a deal to me but as I've had the bike since Friday, I thought I'd get some learned opinion
I reckon it really depends on how many miles you cover and how frequently your bike will need servicing, basically the deal sounds good.
As for tyres, I would only be happy if I knew exactly which brand of tyres were proposed within the deal, if its replacement with OEM Bridgestones then that could be an ok deal, again it depends on the mileage you expect to cover, as a set of OEM Bridgestones should last you at least 4,000 miles rear and maybe 5-6000 miles front, dependant on how you ride and what type of riding you do, as lots of Motorway stuff will square the tyres off fairly quickly.
Is the garage a good place to get servicing done ?

Hi there, firstly I would ask yourself these questions........
1/ If you pay £700 up front for a service package and the garage goes under, where does that leave you? Is the contract underwritten by an insurance company who will honour it elsewhere?
2/ Are you intending to keep the GTR for four years, if not, is it transferable to a new owner or to a new machine?
3/ Is it a Kawasaki dealership? If not the garage may be unaware of important updates in the service schedule which are introduced periodically.
4/ Can they guarantee they will use genuine Kawasaki parts?
The tyre deal........
1/ Does it cover replacement after fair wear and tear, or just damage caused by punctures?
2/ Can you stipulate which tyres are used, does it include fitting of new tyres and disposal of the old tyres?
3/ Are they aware of the tyre pressure sensors and are they insured for if they break them during removal/fitting of tyres.
4/ Do they have a recovery service or do they work in conjunction with other garages to collect your GTR should you not be local when a tyre gets destroyed or needs sudden, unexpected replacement ?
I'd want a few questions answering first, but in principle it sounds a reasonable deal.
all good points there lonewolf,, :agree:
Sometimes it pays to just keep it simple and book it into a Kawasaki dealership as and when it needs it.
Thanks for the responses.
I like simple as well.
I have a service deal on the car and I just drop it off and pick it up. No worries about the bill
The garage is a Kawasaki dealer so they should know what they are doing though when one employee leaves he can take a large slice of the knowledge with him.
I work in insolvency so am always sceptical about paying in advance.
The only protection is paying by credit card and hoping that the dealer will survive. They are a four branch group but that doesnt always help.
The deal is transferable to another owner if I sell and they tell me it includes parts apart from clutch and tyres. Oils, filters and brake pads are included
I have gone for the service deal as it looked like value.
The tyre deal is for them wearing out or punctures, damage, vandalism and is either at their garage or elsewhere if an emergency where I pay and get refunded.
Its full fit and disposal and as a Kawasaki dealer they should know about the sensors.
The tyres are factory fitted option
In a typical year I'll do less than 4k with it being an equal mix of decent A roads and motorway so squaring is a problem but not massive
I've not gone for that as yet but probably will as it seems a deal as its less than one set of tyres
Pie man, from what you have said above, it sounds like you have bought an extremely good deal. Out of interest which dealership have you gone with, I might mention it to mine and and see if they are prepared to do something similiar. :whistling:
its CMC at Clay Cross.
I bought my bike there last week
Its changed hands a few times over the years so who knows who will run it in the future
I always refer to it as Clay Cross Powersports which shows my age
The guys who have it now are in Chesterfield, Nottingham and Cannock as well as Clay Cross
Garages seem to vary in quality and staff changing can have a big impact. Some garages dont seem interested in the customer for some reason
Hopefully these are !
On the tyre deal, I got an email today saying it doesn't cover wear & tear.
Double checked as it sounded very good
Sounds a good deal, go for it.
I'm seeing more & more good deals at the mo to attract business
Hi
I had a good tyre deal - well at least I thought I did when I bought the my GTR 2 years ago.
It cost £90 per year and would cover both tyres in event of a "puncture" providing there was 25% tread left. Given the mileage I normally do and the cost of the tyres I thought that it would come in handy.
It did come in handy as I had a genuine puncture in the rear tyre and it was replaced under this scheme but as luck would have it I had a second puncture a month later in the replacement rear tyre. So I thought it would be covered under the policy - the insurance company came back and said NO - they only cover the tyres fitted to the bike at the time of purchase, they do not cover the replacement of the second tyre even though it was replaced under their scheme. The front tyre was still covered
I would read the small print very carefully.
I did get my monies worth, new tyre would have cost me £160 instead it cost me £10 excess plus the cost of the insurance policy £90 = £100.
Kind regards
Steve
though I didnt go with the tyre deal, it did state two front and two rear. I dont do massive miles and idnt think punctures or vandalism would be a problem.
Not havng taken it, I'll probably get two punctures straight away !
