Title: Hello - I'm new here!
Post by: patrick on February 11, 2011, 06:11:49 PM
Evening all.

I've just found this forum and here I am. I've had my GTR since June last year and got here via 6 years on a 600 Hornet, 3 years on a CBF 1000 (including IAM and Rospa tests). So my progression to the GTR has been a gradual one, but one about which I have absolutely no regrets.

The bike is an 09 model and I bought it with only 1200 miles on the clock. It came with a higher screen,  rad guard and a lovley shiney Beowulf can  that makes it sound fabulous!

In  the time I've owned the bike I softened the suspension my self and then had Mick Grant set it up for me (£40 each if you get a group of ten bikes). I ditched the original tyres at just over 2.5 k miles as the front was well worn and I had no confidence in the wet. I fitted PR2's  (loved them on the CBF) and soon found my feet scraping the floor whilst keeping comfortably ahead of  a Blackbird in Wensleydale.

My partner loves the bike too. She finds it commfy, lots of space and enjoys the overtkaing capabilities so much that she's seeing for the overtaking opportunities as soon as I do. The pillion pegs are slightly too high for her ageing knees (good  job she wont read this!) so a lowered / adjustable set are due to be fitted before the weather warms up.

Also waiting to be fitted are a hugger, fender extender and bar risers.  The sat nav and autocom need to be hard wired to the bike. I've fitted an alloy rack and givi plate to allow my top box to go on so we have loads of space for a summer trip.

But firstly, I'm of to Kawasaki at Cradely Heath for its 1st service and to  buy  the extra 2 year warranty.

I look forward to being active in this forum

Hi Patrick and welcome to the forums.

Defo worth getting the 2 year warranty. So far has covered me for a failed dash and the TPS sensors. Looks like everyone is getting their bikes ready for summer!

Hello and welcome Patrick, glad you found us!
Out of interest, how much is the extended warranty?

Wer Hey .. and welcome Patrick !
Looks like a great bike you have there. On one of the threads we have just been discussing tyres and I am certainly a PR2 man so you won't go wrong there ! Get stuck in with your ideas and opinions ... most of us do ! Well done on coming to your senses !

In the region of £350, but has to be worth it.

Probably not much of a reply this, but I make my judgement on how I feel on the bike.

What I can say is I comfortable that the bike will change directions quicly when i want it to and once its leaned over it feels stable.

That about does it for me.

Take it you mean the Michelin Road Pilots 2 ?
Strange is it not. I got couple mates who wont go near them. Puncture problems apparently.

Going to fit Avons to mine when it needs new Tyres , it came with Bridgstones...I have personally always been a Avon fan. Never let me down yet. Good wear too.
Each to there own....!

Hugger arived to day, project for this evening.

Which hugger did you go for? I'm still toying with the idea of whether I should fit one or not.

The Skidmarx standard Black one. Got the fenderextender from them too.
I took Silencer off to help fit Hugger, easier that way.
