Title: I can hear Formula 1 cars from my home office...
Post by: Ros on September 07, 2012, 10:23:51 AM
Hi all,

I can actually hear the F1 practice session from my home office.  Does anyone follow the F1?  I wanted to go and see the race on Sunday, but the prices are a little steep.  I might take my mountain bike and go up there for a cycle round the park and see if I can sneak in to the qualifying on Saturday :)

When there are no events on, it is easy to get inside, but I think they repair all the holes in the fences just before F1 weekend in Monza.

It's an amazing sound...  Although the loudest I have heard was the Audi LMP4 that was doing some testing back in March.  and that is a diesel!

Cheers

Ros

I'll be on the sofa watching the highlights on BBC. Monza is only live on Sky and I am too tight for that. When I worked in Monaco they used to errect high fences at all the public areas where you could posibly catch a glimt of a F1 car. Did not bother me as the company I worked for closed for three days over the race weekend so we could all get out of the madness. It is a big event in Monaco with preparations to errect all the stands starting a month before the race and then taking another month to disassemble. Personally the Monaco GP emphasises all that is wrong with the place; bunch of stuck up wannabies paying extortionate prices to be seen in amongst the dog shit.  :gun_bandana:

Yep = Lucky sod!

I love F1 too.  Have done a few rounds over the years - Silverstone, Jerez, Spa, Monza, Magny Cours, just getting too expensive now to do them.

I won't pay for Sky because you have to buy all the sport stuff with shitty fotball etc. which I refuse to support!

Will have to watch BBC's highlights when my current tours finish....

Yeah I live about 3Km south of the circuit, as the crow flies...  This morning, there are a lot of helicopters flying over head.  One every couple of minutes...  That'll probably calm down when this morning's practice gets underway.

Yesterday, I went to lunch in one of my fav restaurants, came out afterwards and the car park was full of Ferraris.  A very tidy F430 Scuderia parked right next to me, and an old Testarossa was there too

I have to say that I was quite surprised that none of my mates asked to come and visit for this weekend...  Maybe I have no mates after all  :mfr_lol:

I'll cycle up there and see if I can sneak in for qualifying after lunch....

If I can, I'll post some pics :)

Bah, couldn't get in.  Also got a flat tyre so had to send the misses back home to get a new inner tube  :undecided:

Sounded great though :D

Got to within about 10m of the track in a forest, but couldn't see over the barrier.  They posted these "controllo" guys all around the outside of the circuit grounds, and they all looked quite mean...

Never mind - I'll have another go tomorrow  :whistling:

Just listening to them warm up in the park through the mist in the trees is eery and quite breathtaking

So this morning, anyway, was woken up by the air traffic.  There is one helicopter every two minutes going over our home carrying rich spectators to and fro.... grrr!  can't they pick me up too?

See ya
