Title: Back for more in Somerset
Post by: Mark2 on August 30, 2012, 09:48:15 PM
Hi all,

Sold my 2008 GTR in 2009 and crossed over to the dark side with a Goldwing  :sleep1:

Anyway, I'm missing performance, handling and fun, so thinking of buying a new GTR but also looking at the new ZZR14 and BMW K1600 as well.

I had all of the usual problems with my last GTR, which did tick me off a lot at the time. What's changed my mind is that despite spending out an awful lot on a Goldwing, it still has had too many faults for my liking.

Anyway, looking forward to everyone's opinion and hearing from some old faces from the original site.

Ride fast and safe.

Mark

Hi and welcome to the forum Mark

I've been looking at the ZZR1400 and BMW 1600 as well. The ZZR is fun but not practical all year. The BMW is fun and practical but expensive. The GTR isn't perfect but its a great sports tourer.

Mark if you dont go for the GTR then go for the new ZZR14, its the best looking bike on the planet at the moment with power and handling to match. The BMW K16 looks like a very large 2 wheeled mobility scooter. You think the GTR as its problems, just wait till you put a few miles on a BMW K16 there are  :shit:. GTR or ZZR you decide.

This is a GTR forum, so as such I would concur that the GTR is an excellent machine.  However Vader, I now own a 16GT and they are excellent and with 7k on mine I have had no problems with it at all, unlike the 3 sets of discs, new ignition, replacement fairing and fob misreads I had and the issues with bearings that have been reported (and now a brakes/safety recall).  The 16GT is not a piece of  :shit: anymore than the excellent GTR.  Each to their own, but at least be objective.

 Sorry Winston, i did not mean to up set you about your K16, it was not a personal attack at you for buying a  :shit: bike. Please accept my humble apologies. Take a look at Keiths  new ZZR 1400 in the new super fast green and compare the looks to your BMW and then you will know that  i am right. Sorry again Winston  ps if you need to borrow a tow rope at some time, you can borrow mine which as only been used once,  the last time i owned a BMW.  :whistling:

:mfr_lol:  I actually think the ZZR is Pig Ugly, but each to their own.  It is an awesome bike but has the attractiveness of a narwahl after a cruise liners propellers have scarred it...

:mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:  For what it's worth I think they BOTH look lovely in different ways .... the sleek look of the ZZR with those black pipes and the K1600 with its uber front end and boxes ... if only my garage was big enough for all 3 !!!!!!
