For the past 7 weeks and for the foreseable future I'm a making a minimum of 1 400 mile round trip per week to the north east to visit my seriously poorly mum :-(
As a result of this my bike has not been touched since the end of July when i came back from the London 2012 cycling road races and is likely to not move for the foreseable future as I'm not likel to be in the right frame of mind to ride.
However on the round trip today the weather was so diabolical that I was glad to not be on 2 wheels. Particularly on the return trip on the M6, south of Lancaster and most of the way to Stafford, the rain was non stop and the tram lines in lane 1 were water logged making it safer (in my view) to stick to lanes 2 or 3.
For a change it seemed that most drivers were happy to keep good distances apart and my journey passed without incident, but Jnct 14 was a welcome sight!
Take care in this rain over the weekend guys!

Sorry to hear about your mum Patrick. Hope she makes a speedy recovery
+1 Patrick .... I am sure we all hope that your mother makes a good recovery and returns to her "good old self" .... Tell her the boys and girls on the Gtr Forum are thinking of her and she will be better in no time at all.
Take care.
Same from me too Patrick, mums are really special, and I hope she is on the mend very soon.
Thanks for your kind words guys :-)
Patrick, very sorry to hear about your Mum, I'm sure she really appreciates your visits to perk her up. Hope she improves soon.
