took the bike in this morning for the rear brake recall and had a new front tyre fitted at the same time ready for the loch lomond trip next week end   thought while the bike is on the ramp, thought may as well get the oil, filter and shaft oil changed. told the tech only changed the shaft oil if you have the recommended GL5 heavy gear oil. he said he dose not have the grade GL5 " that kawasaki recommends" so thought fair enough! at least he told me instead of using a none kawasaki recommended gear oil, so ended up changing the shaft oil myself when I got home. also had this from another kawasaki dealer when I asked for the GL5 gear oil, they said they don't stock it. so ended up buying what "kawasaki recommend" 1 litre bottle of putoline GL5 heavy gear oil direct from putoline's "on line" shop. the shaft only takes 160ml to fill to top of thread on the filler neck so the 1 litre bottle is good for approx 6 changes and a 1 ltr bottle putoline GL5 heavy gear oil costs £7.99 so defo worth buying the 1 ltr bottle and doing it yourself at least you know the correct oil as been used. think the gear grade oil the dealers keep in stock may be the GL4 which is what most shafts drives use, but I prefer to use what kawasaki recommend. if your getting your shaft oil change by the dealer I suggest you ask what grade they use.
Fitted PR3's today, changed oil and filter, did the shaft oil too. Haven't been out on it yet,as just started raining. Hope to get a few miles in over the weekend. Now ready for my trip to Portimao,
E Spain, Andorra and home
Coman
