Title: TANK PROTECTORS
Post by: Deon on August 15, 2012, 03:19:58 PM
Hi guys,
A while ago someone mentioned that they bought these protectors somewhere. Cannot find that thread for the life of me. If you know where I can get them from, PLEASE let me have the details. Down here in South Africa I just get "blank" stares when I enquire about these.

Check that they have them in stock before parting with your money

They are a great product, I ordered some on line only to be told they weren't in stock and could be some time before they became available..I got my money back.

Thanks a lot you guys !! Will e-mail them to check stock on hand. looking for plain black ones if possible. The contrast of those in the pics are not to my liking.

Those pics are of my bike. They are black pads on a black bike - they do not have that stark contrast in real life but are very difficult to capture in a photo.

They make a real difference to your connection with the bike - I think you'll like them.

Regards

Max.

Max,
Thanks a ton for the information. Do you perhaps have the product code for the black ones ? Would be of great assistance. I am battling to get hold of these guys !!!

Have a look at www.techspec-aus.com.au - that's where I got mine.

The code is 62-2500-C3. There are a number of different materials available, I chose the C3. Be aware there is a different kit for pre 2010 and post 2010 models.

Regards

Max.

PS I just checked the website and they don't list the 1400GTR but I would drop them an email as there is definitely a kit available - the kit has the knee pads and a tank protector all pre cut for a perfect ft.

Thanks a ton Max,

Have e-mailed them. Hope they respond as the dealer in the UK has not responded to my e-mail as of yet.

I am really trying to get hold of these protectors but cannot get hold of any of these two dealers. Is there anyone else I can try ? Any advice will be appreciated.

I think they are an Australian Company Deon, maybe you could e-mail them and ask for a U.K supplier  :smiley:

@Kwikasfuki,
That is EXACTLY the problem. Suppliers are not really eager to assist when they hear we are down in SA. Very frustrating as we do not get all the nice aftermarket stuff that you guys are able to get. And to get a dealer down here to organise something for you from the UK or USA is a mission on it's own let me tell you !!
I have been trying to get a hugger, tank bag and now these tank pads but have hit a dead end.
Some mates of mine went up to the Isle Of Man TT a while ago, but I only thought of asking them to get hold of the stuff for me AFTER they returned ( that was my own fault ). Anyway, just a bit of a rant to get it off my chest this morning.

Deon, would I be right in thinking that even if the items were sourced/purchased here and forward posted to you in S.A that the costs would make the excercise prohibitive

@olde coney,
With the current exchange rate and shipping it is still worth the excercise. The main problem down here in SA is that these items are not available here and the dealers/bike shops are not prepared to source them for you ( even with putting their markup on).
And IF they were available, they would be about 3 times more expensive than in the UK anyway.

Deon

I'll ring the Australian agent on Monday and get price and availability on the pads and see if they'll ship directly to South Africa. If not I could get them sent to me and post them on to you...assuming the price and shipping cost are OK with you.

Max,
Thank you so much for your offer. I wanted these pads not for grip but to protect my bike from scuffing in those areas.  Will be interesting to know if other guys get the same scuffing ( perhaps it is just my riding style ?? ). Anyway, I had these areas protected by VPS ( they have recently opened a branch here in my city ). I am therefore sorted out thanks !!!
Oh, and it cost me about Pounds !!!!

I don't know what VPS is but I'm glad you're sorted Deon.

VPS ( Vehicle Protection Shield ). A thin see through adhesive shield to protect against stone chips etc etc. Mostly used on cars but I had it on my ZX14 as well. Good stuff. You don't even know it's there unless you really look closely.
