I know this has been covered before but this afternoon my bike very briefly displayed a Red warning light followed by an "F1" message which relates to the DFI system.
Has anyone else who has experienced this gone on to suffer problems with their bikes Fuel injection ?
i had this message pop up a couple of times on my o9 zzr 1400.never ever had any issues with the bike ii just turned off the ignition then turned it back on and all was ok. i never had this pop up on mhy gtr though.
h...this is simple...it refers to the fact that the 'Rider behind is faster than you' and you must pull over and let him past....
sorry couldn't resist...someone who is less immature than me we be along later to help... :innocent:
I had this once when I was running in, a spurious indication, not happened since

I'll expect plenty help then :mfr_lol:
Happened a couple of times with me (noticed everytime when it was a bit "chilly" and hard on the gas). No problems experienced and it seems like a common issue around the world with the GTR and ZX14. I think the ECU gets a bit "confused" now and again. By all accounts, nothing to worry about.

Yes Rog, It's a cryptic message, it means!!!!!!!!! Get ya finger out man, It's saying F1!!!! That is the ecu telling you it is " F------ irritated, by you going slow :sleep1:, so can you please stretch the throttle cable a bit more. :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: But really, they ALL flash that message from time to time, nothing to worry about.
:mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: actually Geoff it happened as I was crawling past the Gilpin on the A590, and was probably being overtaken by a blue rinser in a Micra at the time :mfr_lol:
Funny, I was about to post a thread with the same question..
I had the red light come on for about 2 to 3 seconds, dash displayed F1 error. I was just looking to pull over when it cleared and hasn't happened since.
I was a little worried before the light came on as the fluid level in the front brake master cylinder was close to minimum level and I couldn't see any explanation for that. The bike has only 2100 miles on and there is no sign of a fluid leak anywhere.
\I have now spoken to the dealer and booked it in for a check of the brakes. The dealer told me that the fault indication will be logged in the ECU so when they plug it into the diagnostics doofer it will tell them what occurred.
Anyone had any problems with brake fluid loss? I can't see the front pads wearing enough in 2100 miles for the fluid level to drop that much.
Brake fluid level low is only as a result of fluid loss ( leak ) or perhaps it was not filled properly in the first place. It will however, have nothing to do with you FI warning light coming on.

there are two F1 type messages...."F1 error" and "F1"
just thought I'd mention it
I've also had the F1 messgae a few time. It actually happened this morning riding into work. Just cruising along and the F1 flashed up for about 3 seconds and then went.
I just ignore it now.
"there are two F1 type messages...."F1 error" and "F1"
Right you are OC. The point I was trying to make was that this message would have nothing to do with his low brake fluid.

Sorry Deon, I didn't word my post very well
I wasn't trying to correct you, and I know its nowt to do with brake fluid, its just that I'd noticed from the handbook that two different messages existed.
All good OC, did not take it that way either !
I had the F1 light up and off right way! in fact if I would I've blinked I would have missed it. that was with in 30 miles of collecting the bike from the dealers from new. it only had 1 mile on the clock when I pick it up, so put it down to the bike just "settle down" never come on since, but did ask my local dealer would this cause me any future problems? he said :nono: anythink can cause the f1 light to come on, the fact that the f1 ight goes off indicates there's no problems
 Same here Dave, it flashed on and off so quickly that I too would have missed it in the blink of an eye
I have had this several times and it is nothing to worry about if it goes away quickly
general view it is EM radiation from such things as overhead cables intefering with the massive computing power that is now on all vehicles.
Relax and enjoy the bike
Tom
The FI Error message suddenly flashed up again whilst I was heading off on my jollies, at the time I was somewhere on the M6 Southbound at about 70mph (honest)
So at the next services where we topped up I filled the bike with a high octane fuel, and continued to do so throughout France, where that choice is more readily available.....no further problems, and the bike genuinly seemed to perform better plus the mpg return was slightly improved.
Throughout the 1000+ miles covered last week the bike has returned 53.4 mpg overall, which aint bad as much of the mileage in the Somme was on back road (100 miles away type territory) :mfr_lol:
Maybe the error message is directly associated with octane rating, it does recommend a higher fuel octane in the handbook after all
You may have a point there OC. Perhaps a can of octane boost every now and then could help ???
Thing is, how often would one add it though ?
My FI light has flashed a couple of times but after reading many posts on this issue, it does not worry me. Problem I have now is the REAR TPS battery low message is on all the time. Going to have it replaced under warranty. I think it's very poor for a bike that is not even 18 months old to have this problem !!
