Once in a while, I remove the seat for doing stuff [ there a'int a lot under there even if you include the toolkit]
I always struggle to refit it securely. Either the front lugs at the rear of the tank do not engage, or only one of the centre catches engages properly, then when I do get them all in, the rear latch is an absolute pig to get locked.
I know the seat base is very flexible, and does not help, but is there a knack to it, or any adjustment [ not that I can see any]
ive had 3 different seats on my gtr and all have been a bit fiddly , ive found the best way is to engage front first and then as im engaging the rear catch i turn the key in the lock , i still have to press down firmly. recently the plastic trim under the seat and above the frame tube is all kinked and fouls one of the rubber stops under the seat .
Well upon closer examination, one of the front lugs was bent down abit, making it hard for the seat part to get under. Adjusted that and things are better, rear catch still needs a bit of persuasion though.
A small dab of grease on the rear catch and latch may help.....only a small amount though ~ not a big dollop :mfr_lol:
I always find that putting the bike on its centre stand first helps. That way at least when you slide the seat onto the two front lugs you can see that it is going foward squarely.
I had a similar problem with my seat where it would pop out at the back latch. Took pliers and bent the latch on the seat slightly ( towards front of seat ). Problem solved.
Mine always had to be pushed at 45 degrees from the rear to clip in.
I once saw someone on here, (not mentioning any names of course) force their seat into position by repeatedly punching it! :whistling:
It wasn't a pretty sight. :mfr_lol:
