Title: Front foot pegs
Post by: Berber on August 01, 2012, 03:32:31 PM
Hi guys

I am thinking about buying a GTR and went along to my local dealership to have a look. When I sat on the bike though, I found my ankles banging on the front foot pegs when I walked the bike while sat on it. Is it me? On my CB 1300 I do not have this problem as they are positioned slightly further back. Although the pegs are sprung and move away when I walk the bike backwards they still knock my ankles. I am hopeful to have a demo to try out at the weekend so maybe a couple of hours in the seat with some stops will reveal whether they are going to be annoying.

Anyone else have this problem?

Robin

Flippant answer. Don't walk the bike while sat on it !

Serious answer. You will probably get used to it. My previous bike was a Suzuki Vstrom, the first bike I had with this 'problem'. After a while I got used to it, if I ever did walk the bike, which I am not a great fan of. One slip and you can be over with the bike on top of you. I much prefer to walk alongside while wheeling it.

I fully understand db. There are times however, when I just need to move the bike a few feet and that banging on the ankles could get irritating.

All I can say is I am 6' 3" and when walking the bike sat on it they don't bother me, although I generally walk the bike holding onto the left handlebar and rear part of the frame.

Buy a black one, there quicker.

.

- them pegs will not only get in your legs' way when you're paddling the bike about , but also at stop lights when you want to flat foot.

- you get used to it though.

:185: to the forum berber, its a friendly place and I'm sure you will enjoy it..

There's plenty good free advice on here too

I think you will find that the GTR is no better or worse than other machines where front peg positioning is concerned....Its never bothered me

Hello berber and welcome to this great place ... I too had a CB1300 and loved it to bits... not as much as the Gtr of course ! I personally didn't have problems with foot pegs but we are all different !.
Hope the test ride goes well.

Demo booked for 11.00 Sat. We are going to take it out for a couple of hours. It is brand spanking new and am really looking forward to it. I just hope it doesn't rain too much. Peterborough to Lincoln on the straights (A1) then back via the back roads to try out the twisties.
