Hi all, I've took the plunge and ordered a gel lowered seat from Top Sellerie. I need the lowered seat as I am (ahem) 'vertically challenged'. Not such a problem but difficult holding bike steady whilst her indoors climbs aboard. I will post a review on the seat when it arrives. Price seems reasonable, but i'll reserve judgement on that until i've tried it. Its black with blue stitching and a GTR 1400 logo. Fingers crossed.

I've had mine a while now and I can honestly say its the best seat I've put on any bike, I love it!
Don't think you'll regret it
who and where are they ?
They are in France. You design the seat yourself, choose whether to have new base or send your seat to them, they make it, send it back. I chose to have new base so I would keep original. Cost €400 with postage, approx £320

Did you get the gel seat option?
Nope didn't do gel seat, and glad I didn't had gels before and not been impressed. The standard Sellerie seat is great, and I'm no lightweight either at 6'3" and 16st.
I know what you mean by gel seats. I don't seem to gel with them either.
Does this seat crush your nads against the petrol tank? (yes, this is a serious question!)
after having a gel seat made for me bu the great tony archer and finding it more uncomfortable than a stocker i vowed not to have another. 20 mins riding and it was irritating me v 2 hours on my stock.
Some of the high end seat guys in the states and all advertising cell foam ( not memory ) as the best substance
The best seat ive seen in terms of reviews and reputation is Russel all day long.
Corbin names is shite in the states, their poor service and hard seats and legendary
Hi all,it must be seat season.I,ve ordered a seat from Top Sellerie too.I,ll let you know when it arrives, and how it progresses.
I want to try one. Do you think they will send me a sample? :mfr_lol:

:mfr_lol: I know exactly what you mean!! and no because they are gently scooped up toward the tank, so you can still move around the bike, but you dont get 'nadslap' when you brake hard.
Hi,my seat arrived today.Looks great, fits well, and I,m impresed with the quality.I,ve had 4 seats done in recent years, and this is probably the best yet.I had a standard seat,no gel(tried them before, not for me),no heating, with green lettering and stitching.Compliments the green paint work, and feels comfy. Can,t try on the road yet,but will get out asap.keep you posted.
Nige..... We would like to see pics please
Well, seat arrived. Looks great and fits well. Only had a short ride, two-up, and we both think it's comfy but that has yet to proven. Quality seems top notch. I'll post pics when it stops raining (maybe next May LOL)

Good news mark... have you got any pictures that you could post so that we can all have a look

I like. Does it push you forward into the tank?

No mate, if anything it's pushes you away. It's more ramped up at the front compared to the original. It's a lowered seat but I honestly can't tell the difference. I still can't reach the floor properly. I think it's a tiny bit wider, which defeats the lowering. Still, seems comfy so far but haven't done any distance yet. Spent about half-hour on it the other day and all was well. It's a bit firmer than the original but I believe the gel pads take time to soften. Cheers
Mark
as soon as I saw the first picture Mark I thought "oooh that looks really nice"
I imagine that it will soften as it gets more use, as it, and your backside, get used to each other.
Does it attach and detach easily ?

Doesn't attach and detach quite as easy as the original, which wasn't easy either. But a bit of jiggery pokery gets it sorted. I've read somewhere of somebody bending the attachment tab under their seat to make it fit easier. May have to have a try of that
Mark
Mark, I have to say that looks sweet.
Well, we've been on a longer ride now and seat was good all the way. Longest stint was about 2 and a half hours and we felt the need to stretch our legs but I think thats quite normal. Don't know if I'm getting used to it, or it is getting used to me, but definitely comfy, no complaints. Cheers
Mark
Looks very nice indeed .... now you really wouldn't want to get off the bike at the end of a ride !
I have just come back from my second trip to the South of France this year and after 2 days with over 8 hours in the saddle the stock seat felt rather uncomfortable. :death:
So I ordered a seat from them and got confirmation that it has been shipped today.
Looks like they have ready made seats for the GTR on offer for €189 from time to time and I ordered one of those.
Including shipping with UPS it came to £204 in the end since I opted to keep the stock seat.
Still sounds like good value to me.
Hardly worthwhile to pay the deposit and send the old seat at my expense to France anyway.
So if I ever sell the beast I can either keep the new one if I get another GTR or sell it separately.
I'll keep you posted once it arrives - should be by the end of the week.

- mecki , perhaps sitting on anything for 8 hours would be hard work ...

Pfft... GTR is a veritable magic carpet compared to other bikes... it will be the one thing i miss on Septembers trip... I could ride all day on the beast without any aches for sure....
I have already booked a trip to the Massuse for when I get back off of the Tuono... 3/4 of an inch of fine Italian foam mmmm ....

You are probably right but a little less pain is better and those topsellerie seats look great too. :whistling:
My new seat arrived today.
It looks great and actually fits better than the old one.
Seems to be a bit firmer too.
Tried to take a photo but the flash isn't working properly on my cheap camera so has to wait until I get her out of the garage. :surrender:
I'll keep you posted how it feels after a longer ride-out. :biker3:
Any updates on the comfort of the seat Mecki?
That goes for all of you who bought Topsellerie seats.. Now that you've had them for a while what are your long term opinions?...
Am considering ordering one and wanted you opinions... they certainly look decent on their website.
Thanks.
AL.
I am very pleased with it.
It's definitely more comfy than stock.
Especially since it is more rounded at the front and doesn't have those ridges that push into the inner thighs like on the stock seat.
The longest ride I did so far was only just over 200 miles, though.
I reckon it could be a bit higher at the front since I still tend to slide forward towards the tank to answer Asifs question.
But it's not as bad as on the old seat and by now means ...crunching.
And it gives great support when sliding back.
Only a truly custom moulded seat could be more comfortable, I believe.
I surely don't regret the 200 pounds I spent on it.
But as I said before the real test won't come until April next year when I'll be going to the south of France again.
