Title: Back on a GTR again
Post by: Darren33 on July 12, 2012, 08:55:58 PM
Well I am sorry to say I left the GTR fold for a year when I sold my 2009 model, but I'M BACK and picking up my new Blue 0 miles, 2012 model next Thursday and can't wait. Don't know what got into me but I think I have excercised the demon.

Hope those of you who bought my old parts are still enjoying them :mfr_lol:

Stay safe, see ya knocking about the hills boys and girls

Is this a first?
Someone who's sold a GTR and then seen the light and returned.
Welcome back.

Welcome back to the Asylum Darren.  :hammer:    :helpsmilie: :taz: :wheelchair: :stuart:

IIRC there are 2 or 3 others on here who defected, then realised that the grass is ALWAYS greener on the Kawasaki side.  :mfr_lol:

I fully expect Mogster and Winston to soon realise the error of their ways.  :whistling:

I bought a Remus exhaust of a Dan who sold his 2009 model. I think it was in Elland?

As soon as they make one that dosen't need to be maintained like a 1908 Matchless... I shall pop down to the dealer and purchase one  :mfr_lol: ... I mean ...really ... the bloody 1199 Panigale has 15,000 mile service intervals.....pop round the shops on the GTR and tis 'spanners-a-blur'....

Guys its Darren. Lonewolf knows me from the XJROC site. he had my spare plastic rack. one of you had my Black Beowulf exhaust and another had my Rad cover.

Based in Ackworth, west yorks.  I had a GSX1400 for a few months then got shut, not for me after all.

Wish Thursday would hurry up and get here.

None of them :mfr_lol:   it was the bike and the fact that my ass and back was killing me on the other bike..

Just bought all my extra's.  more or less the same stuff as I had on the old one.

Add Kevin to that list as well  :whistling:

He probably made a wise choice in selecting to tour Iceland this summer. Just on the wrong bike

:whistling: Indeed!  George, you know I love the GTR, but as Johnny Depp said "if you love two people at the same time, choose the second. Because if you really loved the first one, you wouldn't have fallen for the second."

Johnny Depp is a slag!  :punk: :mfr_lol:
Have you tried explaining that to your better half?
Are your testicles now mounted on the fireplace along with her other trophies?

Besides, if some people want to ride a Digital Samsonite that's up to them.
Me I prefer a Black Dragon with an attitude problem.  :punk:  :punk:

Well I got out on my first ride on the new 2012 GTR today. took it down to Billing bikefest 270 mile round trip. Got back and she now has 282 miles on.  MMMM ride was a bit bouncy so wound front preload up 1 ring, 2 more clicks on damping. Wound rear shock preload up to 5 clicks from max and another 1/2 turn on damping. a bit better but room for improvement.

Mind you, I remember when I had my 2009 model it too had BT021's fitted and they made the ride harse, (IMO) so I changed to PR2's and it totally changed the ride and handling for the better. They just seemed to offer better bump absorbtion.

I also Found that after a while my right wrist was aching a bit due to the angle of the bars too, might just need to get used to it again now i'm sat different

I will continue with the tyres for another few weeks but may swap them for PR3's.  If I do i'll offer the BT021's on here cheap. They will probably only have around 600 miles on by then.

I know some of you rate them and still use them.

PS, Is it just me or was the pre 2010 model a bit better build quality and ride?

Regards

Daz
