Title: Beowlf exhaust
Post by: ChrisB on July 03, 2012, 09:43:29 PM
Bought the Beowulf exhaust off Winston and it is awesome (aparantly I am too old to use that word) awesome, awesome, awesome.
Went for a blast to Wales on Saturday, no complaints from the wife, and many positive comments from my mate on his much too quiet Honda Pan. My son says it's ace so that's good enough for me!!
One day I will take out the baffle, just to see.......... :punk:
Thanks Winston

Sounds like a great option, steel or carbon fibre?

I purchased Mecki's from him and have yet to fit it but do I presume you can remove the baffle from inside the exhaust somehow?

It was my first job to replace that horrendous cannon with a stainless Beowulf - now it sounds like a proper bike!

The potato launcher on my new model has to come off. The bike has no soul with that on.

Whilst you are replacing the SpudGun make sure that you start the bike with NO SILENCER fitted.
I did and it got all of my neighbours curtains twitching.  :mfr_lol:
Sounds  :censored: awesome but WAY too loud.

Yep, ordered a 450mm oval carbon fibre Beowulf exhaust too. I wonder what will arrive first: the bike or the exhaust LOL.

When I first bought my GTR..complete with Bewolf can someon on a ride out commented how good the bike sounded. I replied saying that i didnt realise that he'd followed me. He said "no...  you caught me up and I heard it coming!"

Finally got around to fitting my Beowulf exhaust. The engine purrs and the exhaust growls. Now Tessie sounds like a motorbike and not a sewing machine! My fitting advice:

1. Buy some extra foil gasket wrap for the link pipe-header connection, you'll need it (oloy about £2 a roll).
2. Get 2x slightly longer bolts for the hanging bracket, the ones they send are painfully too short.
3. Spray a little WD40 on the rubber braces to help you slide them along the end can.
4. Loosely assemble everything and get it aligned before tightening down.
5. Most importantly, the hanging bracket goes on the inside edge of the hanger not the outside.  :whistling:

Nice install.
I'm sticking with the potato launcher for the time being

Stephen, yes it does look decent, but I have to admit I like the quiet, standard pipe. (So do my neighbours).
On a different note re the Beowulf can, if there were a couple of niggles with the installation give Beowulf a call they are a friendly bunch and do appreciate customer feed back as it helps them to improve their products for others. The rad guard I had originally from them for my 07 plate GTR wasn't the best fit in the world for the GTR, I popped in to see the staff as I don't live that far from the factory, they took on board what I said and modified the guard and actually gave me one of the new guards for my trouble.

Now that's quality service.

I did just that mate. The instructions are generic for any bike with one low quality B&W pic. To be fair it's very easy and fairly straight forward, just a couple of niggly and bike specific things mentioned above, which I've told them about. It would be a lot of effort to produce bike specific instructions for all the bikes out there but its frustrating having to go out to source bits to fit it or figure it out by searching online. I wanted the CS1 but it's far too expensive (£400+). Beowulf is high quality but at a much more reasonable price (£200).

Speaking of rad gaurds I'll have to check theirs out. I saw a nice looking Kawasaki one on ebay with the monster logo but when I asked them about it they were a right bunch of arses. The rad is curved but the guard in question was flat. When I pointed this out and asked if it was just a generic pic they said 'what you see is what you get, don't like it don't buy it'. Well I told them to stick it in that case, their loss, I would have had it otherwise.

The Beowulf one is flat as well. You need to bend it to get a curve

What exactly did you have to bend? I didn't bend anything on mine and it went on fine?

You need to match the curve of the radiator

Bend is too strong a word, it's just a gentle curve with no forcing it. You don't need to bend it severely, just gently pursuade the grille to follow the radiator's curvature. I fitted the Beowolf grille 2 years ago with no fuss, took about half an hour and looks good.

Add one of these cans to my growing list of prezzies I need to get myself. However after having seen some of the pics on this site I need to give the poor thing a wash. Felling guilty lol

I know Beowulf are constantly expanding, they have two premises now in Halifax, one off Stainland Road at Greetland and the second off Branch Road at Barkisland.

Very decent folk and extremely accommodating and helpful if you ever run into a snag during an installation as I once did on the 07 GTR.

I spent a few minutes discussing their rad guards with them at the NEC on Thursday. The upshot being that the one fitted to my bike is crap, and they have now changed the design. Extremely helpful, no quibbles, just said to me "there you go, have this modified one f.o.c" Excellent customer relations, I'll definitely use them again.
