I have sourced a new rear PR3 and can get a mate to fit it, does it have to be balanced? I guess so but would like to know for definate.
Alan
I would think so. You wouldn't want an unbalanced wheel causing issues with the spline
YES, it deffo needs to be balanced
ive got a home balancer and just replaced my tyre for a pr3, with no weights on it , it was MASSIVELY out of balance due to the tyre pressure sensor putting a lot of weight on one side , i put on a lot of weights to make it right.
OK, i have the details of the wheel removal, exhaust off then as the manual says.
Right, ingrained in my memory ready for fitting in August.
Alan
Just watch that tyre sensor, dont break it!

- but if you do , remember not to tell the wife !
- you'll never hear the end of it ..
.
i didnt remove the exhaust to remove the rear wheel, in fact wheel removal is real quick and simple, much quicker thn a chain driven rear

So its Caliper mounting bold undone, caliper held in place somewhere, remove the bolt and sensor for ABS, bit nut (me) in middle, caliper bracket off and then slide the cotter pin out.
I have the manual, seems ok to me.
Alan
Something like that. Don't forget to support the caliper once its removed.

sounds good, maybe just check the splines for a bit of grease when the wheel is out, mine was dryer than Gandi's flip flop

My tyre is effed. Booked in tomorrow morning first thing. 157 for rear not fitted. I'll be taking it off tonight.
id go for something a bit thicker, so it dont fling off onto the back wheel, like a grease gun grease ??

My mate has his own garage business, MOT station and paint shop, unlimited use of his stuff is o problem but I have to look after his network, computers and his kids stuff as well, a good deal for me as I get to do what I want.
Alan
Thought I'd get the wheel off now in readiness for tomorrow. The nut that has the cotter pin through it wasn't that tight at all. No way was it 94 ft/lbs. A small amount of force and it turned.
Another reason why you should do your own maintenance.
