I fitted a Stiebel Magnum, but it doesn't work. If I connect across the battery, all is fine. I propose to fit a relay, but where would be the best point to pick up the main supply. I can take it back to the battery, but would prefer not to
Thanks Tom
Unless you have something like a fuzeblock, I would take it direct to the battery.
and the only real place able to accomodate a fuzeblok is under the seat by the seat catch....Ive tried with mine
what on earth is a stiebel magnum ?.
I want one, LOL

I have my fuzeblok up front, by the airbox intake air tube on the right hand side. Works well for me, as all the stuff I wanted to wire in (extra lights, heated clothes) needed to be up that end.

Yep, got to admit that the Trophy had more soul somehow. I bonded with it more I think. Probably because I spent most of my life fixing it, servicing it, or vainly trying to balance the carbs :mfr_lol:
GTR is a better bike in almost every single regard though. Only thing I would want to bring over from the Triumph is the ability to leave the panniers and topbox closed but unlocked.

Nice one Martin. and great pics to help with fitment.
I was going to fit my Fuzeblok , but TBH I can't see the point at the moment as I only require feed for the comms, which comes from the rear aux power and the Sat Nav which is sourced from the front
The Fuzeblok is s great peice of kit tho'
Hi Tom,
I fitted a magnum too. And it didn't work to start with either. I just fitted it and connected it where the stock horn was. However, after a bit of fiddling with the 'tuning screw' it blasts in a most satisfying manner!
If yours is making a kind of clanging noise rather than sounding, then, fiddle with the bolt that sticks out the middle a bit. Just do quarter turns until you get a note.
Also, beware that you'll get a slightly different result with the engine running so once you get a sound, fire up the motor and tune it properly.
Wear earplugs!
Ciao
Ros
I use one of these on the CBF and I have taken it off to put on the GTR

- is it safe to just use the existing original horn wire - endings for the new horn ?
- is the current draw the same between the OE -vs- the new Horn ?
.
Ros
Tried adjusting with no success. Horn just clicks. Fitted the relay and all is now well. Obviously the original setup could not deliver the current, but have used original wiring on other bikes with no problem
Still all is sorted now
Thanks for all your help.
Tom
You run the risk of burning the switch if you don't have a relay
Excellent news
Maybe I should install a relay too then..........
How did you wire up the relay and where did you put it?

Right fairing off. Wire to battery and then route to horn. I have pics (I think). Will post them tonight (can't access from work)
Thanks very much ! I'd appreciate it.
Should be fun, i've never removed the fairing before..... :whistling:
Right, here is a pic
(http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a28/gnusblat/1400%20GTR/CIMG0664.jpg)
So:
- I have a fuzeblock installed
- The relay is the black block next to the fuzeblock
- Mine is attached to the fuzeblock which is in turn wired to the battery. If you dont have a fuzeblock you would go direct to the battery
- I originally had the stebel behind the foam. You can still see the metal bracket under the bar ends
Thanks very much indeed for the pic and explanation.
I will have a go at that just as soon as it rains!!

- hi Kwik,
- how does a Fuzeblock help with wiring new gadgets onto the GTR ?

.
Without a fuzeblock you wire either:
- directly to the battery - running the risk of leaving the accessory switched on and draining the battery
- take a feed from the accessory lead. This gives the advantage that the feed is switched to the ignition, but you run the risk of overloading if you have too many accessories wired
With a fuzeblock:
- there is a single feed from the battery to the fuzeblock
- the fuzeblock then allows for accessories to be wired on their own feed with a separate fuse
- The accessories can be wired switched or unswitched
- Less clutter, easier to regulate power and problem solve should an accessory fail
A bit like one of these (household variety) :mfr_lol:
