Title: Scotland 2 and Portsonochan
Post by: ChrisB on June 17, 2012, 07:47:23 PM
If anyone was at the last NEC and/or Manchester Bike shows you may have noticed a stand promoting the Portsonochan Hotel on the banks of Loch Awe and some special offers. Though a lovely area, I would not recommend the Portsonochan Hotel. The wife described it as "tired and neglected". It certainly is not worth the £190 special offer for 3 nights B&B, there are much better places. Nothing seriously wrong with the place, but we felt as though we had been dealt with rather than served, the water sports consisted of a few fishing rods for hire, and 4 dingys, 3 of which had engines that failed to start.

On the other hand, the Balmoral Hotel in Moffat is probably the best value for money B&B we have ever enjoyed in the UK, and we have used a lot from Inverness to Bournemouth. I cannot recommend this place enough, the food was excellent, the place extremely clean and well presented. We will definately use it again as a half way stop to the Highlands.
