When driving in rain or on wet roads after rainshowers, the boots gets wet and dirty?
Have any body done some mods for this? Or know about a solution for this?
Haven't been looking at my bike for any solutions yet, maybe it's an easy fix?

when you take the wife shopping, don't throw out the plastic bags just elastic band them to your boots  you just need to decide on asda bags or tesco or if your a snob maybe marks & spencer bags  just think of it as recycling...!
Use plastic bags for longer trips in rain, but had been nice with a little more permanent protection.
Specialy from the dirty water of the road.
Btw,don't have a wife, have to do the shopping my self
This is what I had i mind. Scroll to the bottom of the site.

Trigger .... I use this .....

It is, as it says on the tin, just a black wax and it came with a pair of Altberg boots that I had and still have, many years ago .... not a polish.
Just put it on with a soft cloth wrapped around your finger .... in the winter, as I commute most days of the year, I do it every month, and my boots and more importantly my feet are kept well dry.
I thoroughly recommend it ... if you can't get any I am quite happy to send you a tin .... its very good stuff !
You can order directly from Alt-Berg.
Brilliant stuff.
I used to get it when I was in the job :whistling:
Ah yes ... Mr NARPO... as of yesterday ?
When I was in the job...... :mfr_lol: have you heard him. So it's now Mr rather than your previous title. Don't you forget, I now outrank you! :mfr_lol:
an alternative is G-Wax

Actually not for another five days, but I will be away when that day dawns and have no uniform kit or ensignia anymore!
You can't out rank a civvie Steve - only harass a member of the public :whistling:
Buy waterproof boots? :whistling:

Congrats on retirement Chris.
Steve tried to arrest me for having blue lights on my bike. Petty. I just opened the throttle and he couldn't catch up :whistling:
Typical Cop Asif. All the same. Should get out and catch real criminals............ :gun_bandana:

Back on topic, the AltBergs have a waterproof/breathable liner and when waxed with Leder Gris are 100% waterproof. Over 9 years mine have never leaked.
There after sales is good (bit slow sometimes) and resoles/refurbishment is cheap and effective.
Advantage also that when off the bike they have walking boot soles so are perfect for all day wear. I used to wear them even when I wasn't in my bike kit for every day use, driving etc.
+1 here .... Altberg may not have a trendy name or flashy stickers but in many many years of riding job bikes and my own I have NEVER had wet feet .. honest to god for those who think that is impossible .. my "old" pair, after 9 years or so were just so comfortable that I sent them back to Altberg for refurbishment .. new soles, gortex liners, velcro and toe strips .. 5 weeks turnaround and about £70 ... like new but with that worn in feel.
I have a new pair at work that I shall start to break in soon and I do not honestly believe that I shall ever get another pair .. just won't need them.
Leder gris is great stuff.
Shame they only do them in childrens sizes
A few weeks ago I got some Altbergs and they are so good I got rid of my Sidi Vertigo boots which I previously thought were unbeatable.
I am tempted to go and buy these: http://www.altberg.co.uk/Web/motorcycle_Roadrunner.jsp
They're nice Asif. I have the Clubman Roadsters which excellent. One of the RoSPA mob has just bought a pair of the Roadrunners but isn't getting on with them so well. Probably just the breaking in period - takes about 500 miles until they feel 'just right'
Asif .. they look like the modern version of mine .....
(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/IMG_3486.jpg) Polished for the "summer" and waxed for the winter .... these, as I said before are years old and what I like is that the zip .. which is always going to let water in, is covered by the velcro along the side ....Winny.... many many years ago do you remember the "Cavalry Boots" ? .. Knee high leather boots .. steady chaps .. which polished up a treat, but zipped all the way down the back, so as soon as it started raining, your feet got soaked !
Get some Asif .. Was I right about the Rukka ?? :whistling:
Yes yes yes, But Trigger was asking if there was anything that could be fitted that would stop the shite and rain reaching your all singing all dancing boots in the first place.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway Trig, no use asking questions like that on here, most of um stay indoors when it rains. :whistling:
Thank you 100milesaway,you nailed it. I use my bike regardless of the weather. Not driving during during winter because of snow and ice. We have a short season for driving in norway,so we cannot be afraid of some wet trips.
Have waterproof boots, but with a little better protection i haven't had to wash the boots so often.
And the feets would not get so cold driving in low temperatures. on't start about heated gear,I know where to buy it.
But not intrested.
I appreciate we have gone a little "off topic' but Hey Ho !!!

Try These i have had them for years, i also have the over-mitts to keep the gloves dry too, they both work perfect, completely dry in wet conditions. The mitts also keep a lot of the cold out, i would recommend them 100% and the price is good too!!.
i bought the overboots from lidl and find them great 2 mins to slip on and feet always dry
I find that with the GTR my boots don't get that wet or mucky, even in the worse riding conditions.
I would highly recommend Alt Berg boots, apart from being totally waterproof they are just so comfortable to wear - although they do take a while to break in. I have had mine about 18 months and I am not envisaging buy another pair of boots.
As an aside and talking of 'on bike' weather protection. I have a set of wind defelectors and I have always been a bit doubtful about how good/effective they were. Coming back from my recent trip to Germany there was torential rain while riding through Belguim. I was still wearing my summer gloves and the only bit of the gloves that got wet was the end of the thumbs, as they were tucked under the bars :-) . The rest of my kit was soaked but my gloves were stil dry :-) So they are certainly effective when travelling at speed.
Kind regrads
Steve

These are listed in the Accessory section and seem to be very good...are they like yours Steve ?

I need to get some as the return journey to Cumbria from Cornwall yesterday was truly horrendous
They are similar, mine came via a member bulk buying them on behalf of members from USA - there are probably some details on the site somewhere.
I woud say that they only start to become effective against things like rain at speeds > 40mph. At slower speeds they are still fairly effective at keeping the wind of the hands which is useful on those chilly mornings.
Kind regards
Steve

I have these on my GTR and they work fine.
However, beware that if you have an aftermarket windscreen, it may touch these in the down position.
Mine touched and eventually this caused the plastic underneath the side covers where they screw into to break.
I rebuilt that area and reinforced it and it now seems to be fine.
As for feet and boots, I don't know of any foot-deflectors for the GTR, but bigger boots can be had from JTS.
Both of these are available to size 16US (15UK).
No idea how waterproof they are but I will be buying a pair shortly, assuming they fit.

I would love a pair of Altberg boots but they would cost around £800 to fit my size 15(UK) feet.

:agree: Also have deflectors bought second hand from WS. Had to modify them slightly to fit with a Casci XL screen. As I too have adult size feet I use JTS boots. OK if you keep them well greased.
I bought these Weise Waterproof Over Boots through ebay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310102568695#ht_1750wt_1070
Great item at a great price..
Well for £160 I bought 2 pairs of boots from JTS and they both fit.
So, am hoping that soggy feet will be a thing of the past.
I bought a pair of the 717s and a pair of the 317s.
They ain't perfect but with my feet who can afford to be choosy.
At that price (£60 for the 317s in size 16) I can buy a new pair every year if necessary.
Well d'ya know what is said about a man with big feet ????
BIG BOOTS :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
