a few shots from scottish tour me and the missus did last week fantastic roads and scenery.
gtr was brilliant best bike for the job.
Slickmick, welcome along to the forum. Its taken you a while to post on here since you registered.
Scotland is indeed a beautiful location, I did a tour up there last year. Which part of Scotland did you travel to? Oh & feel free to put more pics on, we all like photos.
welcome from me slikmick you'll love the GTR and this forum guaranteed ! Am currently on hols in Cornwall on the GTR.
Hello Slick and :185:...
This is a great place .. even better with plenty of photos of Scotland !
Perhaps I might have to go again next year........ :whistling:
Which reminds me I must send an email to someone on here.
As planned we did Scotland last week. Moffat, Loch Awe and Loch Lomond. Unfortunately not on the GTR but n the wife's car. Last Friday night we decided that if it was raining when we got up we would go in the car, this after awful weather forecasts for our week. Well it rained and it rained and we were glad in the end that we took the car. But!, I feel really guilty, specially after seeing a group of Dutch Gold Wing owners enjoying the rain??? Despite being in the car (at least it is a convertible), we enjpyed it and will be going back next year. :embarrassed:
We had a great trip to Cornwall last week, and the weather despite not being very summery didn't stop us from enjoying our break
The bike loaded up and ready for tye off last Monday morning

It rained most of the way there with only about 2 hours worth of dry travel..we stayed in truro at a local hotel which was fine and they looked after us well
(http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n326/oldeconey/Cornwall2012005.jpg)
Truro is a lovely place and we enjoyed walking round and visiting some of the local sites including the cathedral, which is stunning
(http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n326/oldeconey/Cornwall2012014.jpg)
and there are some interesting hostelries
(http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n326/oldeconey/Cornwall2012012.jpg)
The Eden Project is an amazing development and one which both Gill and I were keen to visit, it takes a good few hours to wander around, the entry fee of £23.00 per head is enough to pay.... we were lucky as another biker in the M'Cycles car park gave us a 2 for 1 ticket which saved us 50%.. that made my Yorkshire face break into a BIG smile
Walking around the various areas is fascinating but the walk through the 'Rain Forest' section in biking gear was about as much as I could take...bloody hot or what :mfr_lol:

We visited mevagissey where I last visited a loooooooong time ago, and its still as beautiful and well worth a detour
(http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n326/oldeconey/Cornwall2012046.jpg)
On another day we visited the Lost Gardens of heligan which were coincidentally 'found' by Tim Smit who is the same guy who was instrumental in the development of the Eden Project.
Heligan has to be on anyone list of places to see, it is stunning
(http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n326/oldeconey/Cornwall2012058.jpg)
The journey home on Saturday was grim to say the least as it rained just about all the way, there was also gales and gusts of wind which were unpredictable, it really made the journey very difficult...here's Gill putting on a brave face at one of the several services that we stopped at on the return journey
(http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n326/oldeconey/Cornwall2012066.jpg)
I agree with Mogster about the Kawasaki GEL seat it is very comfy (after the initial hardness is overcome), Gill has the added benefit of an Airhawk cushion which made the lengthy journeys down, and back, much more comfortable
The bike performed faultlessly throughout its ordeal, and despite being fully loaded and 'two up' returned an impressive mpg.

It's approximately 410miles each way from here in Cumbria and in the appauling conditions that we endured on our return, was as much as we would cover in one day
Roger, excellent, really cool pics there. Cornwall is a great place to explore, I have never been to the Eden centre but I do enjoy visiting attractions such as that. Mrs Wolf and I went to Torquay last year for a week and visited an Otter sanctuary down that way. They too had a rain forest environment, albeit on a smaller scale I'm sure. The 'rain forest' is indeed very humid and uncomfortable in any heavy clothing. :sweatdrop:

A 'tower' built from old washing machines etc., which represents recycling, again this is at the Eden Project

Some of the spectacular flora at the Lost Gardens of Heligan, for me this place even beats the Eden Project

Many thanks for those.
Sorry Roger, late to this thread ... you clearly had a great time, despite the awful weather. That is a lovely part of the country, we were there many years ago , before children, Mevagissy and after close to Truro in a farm set up .. it was lovely then too ! Will have to go back if only for the Pasties !
There is always lots to see and some stunning walks etc ... thanks to you and Gill for sharing your pics with us.
Its a pleasure Rusty, glad you enjoyed the pics.
I had a couple of Cornish Pasties and they are very very good....mmmmm tasty
But The Cornish Clotted Cream tea takes some beating....I loved it
Ah ... The Clotted Cream   ... my brother used to do a lot of diving down there and up at Scapa Flow, .... I always knew where he was as he would either send me a small sealed box of smoked kippers or a polystyrene tub of Cornish Clotted Cream ... just lovely with jam and warm scones ..... now that's made me think .... "scones" or "sconns" ?????
easy, before you eat them scones once your ate them they are all scon
That's an appalling joke! :mfr_lol:
it is...............................
but one that makes me smile....especially if I'm eating one of the specimens

Roger did you go to the museum at the end of the harbour in mavagissey??
No we didn't, and I regret not doing so as I'm a bit of a museum fam (read relic) myself..have you visited and is it good, have I missed a real find ?
The museum is free to get in and it tells the story of mavagissey from the beginning of the time, it really is amazing, the fishing memorabilia is fantastic, the costumes the photographs etc, really takes you back in time i was transfixed for an hour, well worth the visit highly recommended, we rented a cottage just off the centre last year ( cobbs Cottage ) lovely place.
fantastic pictures
