Title: Accessory leads
Post by: nogoslow on June 11, 2012, 09:49:36 AM
Can anyone shed some light on this.

i bought an Autocom at the weekend and after setting it up I installed it under the seat in the tool box tray. Behind the toolbox i found what i thought were the accessory leads (grey and black/yellow) only once plugged in the Autocom didn't work. I checked the leads with a volt meter and found there to only be 3.5v. I looked at the front leads under the left infill panel that i use for my heated grips and found that the front leads are black and black/yellow with 12v. I cant find anymore leads under the seat so am a bit lost. Any thoughts? Cheers

So many people try to use the wrong accessory leads its a shame Kawasake dont swop them around and leave the accessory leads exposed and have the diagnostic leads tucked away. I'm pretty sure the former get used more than the latter.

It is a bit of a fiddle but once you have located them and put your own connections on you can push them back and forget, you might skin a knuckle or two.

Now try as I might by reading the owners manual, are the accessory leads ignition fed or battery fed ?
Planning to wire my satnav in using the front leads, but not sure if being permanent live will be a problem unles I demount the satnav every time I park up. I normally would if leaving the bike, but just to be sure.....................
