Title: Forum virgin
Post by: Magman on June 06, 2012, 08:48:53 AM
Hi all
Can I just say I've never felt the need to actually join a forum before but there is so much info and good advice on here I thought I'd take the plunge.
I live up in the the cold damp northeast of England and only recently purchased my gtr from a dealer in Bradford after trading in my St1100. I've given up on trying to adjust the rear suspension now after reading the article on seized adjusters but apart from that I'm very happy with the bike.

          Regards!

Thanks!
The bike is a 2010 model grey but looks brown it was originally from George whites who from what I can gather imported bikes for the uk market not sure of the implications of this if any don't know if anyone can enlighten me on the subject it would be appreciated (dealer only advised me once I handed him my wad of hard earned cash but bike was well priced so went ahead with purchase).
Cheers

To be honest I don't think it would make any difference at all ... as long as it has a GB plate on it !  I am sure when the others get back from work thay will be able to enlighten you some more !!

Hi Magman and welcome to the forum.

Whereabouts from the North are you exactly? Hope fully not Bradford ;)

As for import, easiest way would be to check with the dealer. I don't think there are many imports. Another way would be to check the exhaust header and see if it has the o2 sensors.

Thanks for your help guys

O2 sensor is present and I'm going up to the hill in Newcastle tomorrow so I think I'll have a word with the dealer up there.
I live nr Seaham just south of Sunderland we usually manage to get 2 or 3 sunny days a year on the coast so we tend to ride west to get away from the fog

If the o2 sensor is present then its most likely to be a non import (unless its been imported from California!)

Firstly there's nothing wrong with Bradford!
Why is everyone buying GTR's from Bradford? Are they having a sale on for GTR's?

No nothing wrong with Bradford as long as you're just passing through or picking up a bargain GTR mine also came from viva moto

I did read somewhere that on the older models the seized shock can be freed.

I read that but I'm nearly sure that mine is the later version I'll read back through the thread again though to be sure.

Welcome magman, I'm sure you will find this forum very helpful and interesting, its good to have you on board

I see you bought your bike from Bradford and assume that it came from Bradford m'Cycles (Paul Wilkinson ?) he has been selling Kawasaki bikes for manyy years, although I beleive that he no longer has the Kawasaki franchise.

Roger, he bought it from Viva Moto same place Asif got his from all those years ago.

As for Bradford motorcycles, regrettably they are no longer Kawasaki dealers, shame that cause it would have been dead handy for servicing for me instead of going to Keighley or Autorama.

Aaaah right, I'm not familiar with Viva Moto...  :agree: its a shame that Bfd M'Cycles no longer has the Kawasaki franchise, they were a good dealer I bought 4 ZX9s from them......not all at once  :mfr_lol:

Ah!!! The zx9r I had the last model made think it was the F2 only made them for about 6months wish I'd held on to it probably the last sports bike made that wasn't designed to suit the vertically challenged. It's a shame so many good dealers have closed down over the years Sunderland hasn't had a main dealer for more than 20 years with the closure of Hendersons of Holmeside and Cowies  :help:

Hi,I,m new here too.I,ve also never been a member of any other forums,or websites.I,ve had loads of bikes in recent years, and this is my second gtr this year.I bought a used 2009 model, with 3200 miles on,and loved it immediately.I was so impressed,I convinced myself to pay some more and have a new one, with the traction control, heated grips ect.I now have a 2012 gtr in green, with 3700 miles, which I,ve done in 5 weeks.I,m having issues with the front brakes, but that aside its just brilliant.I have fitted a rear hugger, sat nav(garmin),fender extender, radiator guard, autocomm, side deflectors(Kawasaki ones),ThrottleMeister cruise control, and no doubt other stuff will find its way on to the bike, but thats about all at the minute.I look forward to the sharing of ownership, and will be going to the meet on the 29th.See you all there.thanks.
