I've ordered a pair of these in black wind deflectors from this French site (http://www.motax.fr/sommaire_Kawasaki/accessoires_1400_GTR/1400_GTR_07_09_deflecteurs_/1400_gtr_07_09_deflecteurs_.html). Decided I could do with not having my finger tips freeze in the mornings even with the heated grips

EDIT: buy them from here as they are cheaper: http://www.mittuning.fr/sommaire_Kawasaki/accessoires_1400_GTR/deflecteur_1400_GTR/deflecteur_1400_gtr.html
I was looking at these on the American site today, they look cool.
I hope they don't interfere with the ultra tour screen. I'll probably only use them during winter.
Am I right in saying that on the 2010 model the mirrors are positioned directly behind the brake and clutch levers automatically giving the riders hands better protection?
Damn, should have said I want a pair too!
What's the delivery time?

Indeed. But you can never have enough protection so they are available for the 2010 model as well

They arrived today, so less than a week. I'll fit them this weekend hopefully and post pics
Looking forward to the pics, let us know how you get on.
I've got oxford bond drys on mine at the moment, and given the recent cold weather, they were a godsend. I still use summer gloves in winter and these really do keep with wind and rain off.
The only downside is its a bit fiddly to take your hands off the bar to thank someone / wave etc and then get your hand back in....How much were they?

I have not ridden a pre-2010 to compare with, so cannot comment on whether the 2010 is better, but the mirrors on the 2010 certainly do offer some decent protection. On my previous commuter (Triumph Trophy), I had to use bar muffs through the winter - not needed them so far this year on the GTR.
Saying all that, your hands do still get wet. In torrential rain, my gloves are soaked and starting to leak after about 45 minutes riding, extra hand deflectors would doubtless help.
Martin.
Buy them from here as they are much cheaper:

OK, here's some pics.
Note that the wind screen is the Cee Baileys Ultra Tour and it fits fine
Point to note:
1. When fitting the bracket ensure you the alignment is towards the wind screen. Otherwise the wing mirrors will graze against the deflectors when pulled in
2. The silver nuts and bolts don't go with black bikes. Too much bling. I'll be replacing them with black nuts and bolts.
3. The GTR symbol on the bracket can't be seen through the black perspex. I prefer it that way.

Having used the deflectors for a couple of days, here's my thoughts
They do work - the wind is deflected over hands and onto forearm area. Heated grips are on minimum now
Add a bit of down force to the front, especially when then the windscreen is raised
Still hate the bling
Over priced IMO
But they work and that's the main point.
So you have to make holes for the mount? Template?
Never looked at that area to see if there are any holes fittings already!
Cheers
There looks to be barely any curve on the perspex??
If so they are very over priced! If its a flat piece of perspex anyone can make them!

This may be a bit unethical, but you could always order a set, measure them etc and then return the item. I would never condone that sort of mischevious conduct personally however. ;D
Nah to much hassle, I'd just keep the originals lol
I fitted a set just before the bad weather set in, and they do deflect a fair amount, as stated into the forearm area. Good farkle.
Mine are a light smoke colour and are unobtrusive

My hands get too hot now with the heated grips. Without the wind deflectors there were too cold!
Agree that they do good job. A bit pricey for what they are considering you could make them at home.

Thanks Deb's will 'persuade' Mrs Pete to loosen the purse strings and let me order :)
I got mine from the same place as Debs Pete, they're a good company with quick service
They look OK, though I don't think I'll need them here is Oz (I'll know after this first winter with the GTR!), but can anybody tell me if they will work with the Cee Bailey Ultra Tour screen?.
Also, Winston Smith, I note you have a couple of things on your bars - Cruise control. Brand?. Where from?. Web site link?.
Thanks, Hurricane
I dunno about the C-bailey screen and deflector compatability, mine are fitted with the standard Kawasaki screen and work just fine.
Winston will be able to advise you about the mods to that bike which has now gone and has been part exchanged one of those 6Cylinder BMW things :whistling:
Good heavens, whatever next? fully enclosed cockpit? It's a motorbike most people ride one so that they can be out in the fresh air. Are the worlds motorcyclists going soft? bah humbug, rant rant :hammer:  :whistling:

You could always remove the screen and fairings if you think the GTR makes it too comfy for you.. :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
OR even sell it and buy a naked bike.. :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
I've got one of those as well Debs.
