i went to use my mobile phone on the bike last weekend as it has sat nav on it,i plugged the lead into the socket & a warning message appeared on the screen over charging,i guess the socket is putting out to much juice.i done the obviouse thing & unplugged it.guess it will pay to get a proper bike sat nav one day, which is a good one to get, what else does one need to install one.
you can use a car one ... there are loads of waterproof cases on the fleabay... some of 'em even have ram mounts so tis even easier....
As far as bike ones go I have a garmin 660 and Smarty has the older garmin..... they are OK when they aren't taking us up goat tracks.
The route planning tool.. Base Camp.. takes a bit of getting used to but it's ok as long as you know where you want to go.

Indeed. Mine has a habit of taking me off an Autoroute at a rural exit then a five mile trip down the lanes and finally back onto the Autoroute at the next access point. Maybe it's a hint; "Get off the Autoroutes and take the D roads" I agree, time permitting.
The voice has some serious road name pronunciation issues particularly on the mainland - better just use the turn instructions.
I have 'Emily' on the garmin.... I rarely listen to her...cos she nags.... and she has this really sarcastic tone that she uses when i miss a turning and she says 'recalcutate'! :hammer:
