Title: Newbie looking for help
Post by: Rocketrob on May 01, 2012, 09:11:24 AM
Hello all been looking for a GTR for some time and reading reviews on this site Just finalising my deal for my new bike to add to my collection I have a Triumph Rocket supercharged and a FJR 1300 which is being replaced.

Being large and tall I was looking at a screen to give me wind protection. Wind deflectors for my hands and risers. Any advice on sourcing would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

The new models do have a taller screen than the older ones, so i'd try before spending ya cash.... unless of course you are basketball player  then i'm sure some of our taller peeps will be along soon... when they get up of course.  :mfr_lol:

I am 6' 3" tall with an 11 bike, i have found the laminar lip attached to the top of the screen excellent for wind and rain diversions.

But as you will find out there are many options.

:185: Rob ... glad to hear you are coming to the Gtr fold ! There will be plenty of help on here for you ... somewhere in "Accessories and Farkles" some time back there is a link to a chap in the US who kindly supplied some of us with wind deflectors through a very helpful member    I am sure the link or info will still be there for you to have a look at  .. let us know how you get on

Hi RocketRob,

Welcome aboard the horizon-munching 1400GTR.

I'm in Essex and have a CalSci +6" (the old XL, new XL is +7.5") fitted on my GTR.
I'm 6'4" with a long back so unless yer over 6'4" a CalSci Large will do you.
Screen up the wind just hits the top of my lid.
Screen down it hits just above my tits (I am also a portly chap).

Bar risers are available below, but I'd recommend riding it for a few hundred miles before you decide you need them.
I thought I did and bought some, but I have returned to the stock height now. Sorry, I sold mine a while back.

You can also get bar "wedges" from Murphs which pull the bars back a little.

For the hand deflectors there are Baker Hand Wings (USA), and a couple of French companies who some people have had problems with. Mine came from a French company who have since gone under.

265 Horsepower bike does not know whether to wheelie or wheelspin,  makes it a short burst monster but great for drawing a crowd
