On friday i spent the best part of ....don't laugh.... 3 hours fitting this bloody thing...
Givi Instuctions
Before starting, ensure you have all the necessary tools required, have had no coffee and maybe taken a valium or 3
1. REMOVE THE ORIGINAL PLATE SHOWN IN PICTURE A
AND RE MOUNT IT AGAIN UPSIDE DOWN;
me... eh!...are you sure... cos it bloody well doesn't fit that way and thats not how it looks in the picture... grumble grumble arsebollobxfook!!... at this point I decided that the English instructions were pants and seeing how i have reasonable Italian, I looked at the instructions in Italiano....Oh 'that' plate.... okeeis done that.. :smartass:
2. REMOVE THE ORIGINAL PARTS MARKED IN PICTURES B
AND C;
Me ...disassemble the rear of the bike... FFS!!!! :hammer:
3. WIDEN THE HOLES MARKED IN PICTURE D TILL THE
DIAMETER OF 12mm;
Me...why?.... :rolleyes:
4. CARRY OUT THE MOUNTING YOU SEE IN PICTURE E1
REPLACING THE ORIGINAL SCREWS WITH THE ONES
YOU SEE IN THE PICTURE (DETAIL N°12);
Me ...swear repeatedly cos the bolts won't go in unless you unbolt the grab rail and rack, cos the heads are too big.... FFS! would it be too much trouble to us Hex bolt... bloody italians :single fuck:
5. SET AGAIN THE FAIRING PARTS REMOVED PREVIOUSLY;
Me .... eh :huh:...
6. MOUNT DETAIL N°1 AS YOU CAN SEE IN PICTURES G
AND F;
Me... Ok... ah :oops:.... see instruction no 3....take apart again and drill hole back out to 12mm.... :hammer:
7. MOUNT THE PLATE AS YOU CAN SEE IN PICTURE H;
Me...oooh ffs!... slacken everything back off otherwise it won't line up.
8. CHECK THAT ALL THE SCREWS ARE WELL TIGHTENED
(SCREWS M6=9,6Nm – SCREWS M8=23Nm) AND
CHECK ALSO THAT THE ANTITHEFT CAP AND THE RUBBERS
ARE CORRECTLY POSITIONED ON THE CARRIE.
Me Spend 15mins trying to work out why the bodywork won't go back........... take left hand side to bits again and correctly route seat cable..
Now go lie down for a bit..... :ohplease:
You're a bloke. Why did you read the instructions?

:mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
Should we expect a new thread in a few weeks on the lines of "f*** my rack fell off"
Sometimes it's better just doing what looks right and throwing the instructions away, a bit like assembling an MFI chest of drawers!! :mfr_lol:

Oh god i hope not, coz it will be on the way to Slovina next time the rack's used in anger... :ohplease:
You bought the Givi Rack? Why? :no: :nono:
It's ugly, over complex, and a beyotch to fit.
Almost any other rack would be simpler.
I would have gone for http://www.philsfarkels.com/ (http://www.philsfarkels.com/) rack or the SW-Motech rack as they can be fitted with Givi hardware.
However, when I made my rack (5mm thick ally plate) NOTHING was available for the GTR/Concours yet.
