Title: Steering issue
Post by: Kawdolph on April 25, 2012, 10:07:40 AM
Just wondering if anyone can help ,at present when riding there are times when it feels like my right hand is further forward than my left, now i did have the off last november so maybe it tweaked the triple tree. Also noticed that front tyre is starting to square off and so is rear ,if i take my hands off the handlebars bike runs straight.Anyone with the pr3 tyres have you felt anything like this when the tyres start to square off ,tyre pressures are ok.

If the bike runs straight that would be an indication that everything was true wouldn't it? Could it be that you are still a bit (understandably) paranoid about the accident and just a tad anxious about the repairs to the bike? I had almost 8-9k on my PR3's and although they had squared off a little the bike would still run true providing tyre pressures were correct etc.
Difficult one this I dont know how you could check the symmetry of a bike , I'm sure it can be done though to ease your mind that all is well.

Hi

As Lonewolf said if with hands off it runs true then it is probably fine.
It might be the bars are very slightly out of alignment which is why the right hand feels slightly further forward

just an update have loosened up the bottom triple tree and then top triple tree ,feeling at handle bars is that right hand is in front of left hand while riding ,so this evening measured from bar ends to lock on petrol cap and then frame bolts ,low and behold right hand barend measures 1/1.5 cm longer than left so i thibk next thing is to lossen right hand and move see if this helps.
