Before we start, can i have my own Ranting room.... thanks :hammer:
As those of you that have been following the trials of Mogs will know, yesterday saw the demise of a set of boots, zip went.
Now these were RST boots, ok not the most expensive but still cost me £120 and lasted just over a year  thas :shit: now this goes along with the RST leathers that i had that lasted 18months before the zips went, the webbing on the trousers frayed, and the stitching came undone, oh and the gloves that were fine till the first time they got wet and bloody well shrunk!!
I have contacted RST and their attitude is 'tough shit mate' B'stards... robbing lazy, useless B'stards..
Ok so I know I'm not buying Dianese or Alpine Stars but i do expect the bloody kit to be put together properly :hammer:
sooooo whilst we are here, in the Ranting room, grumpy old men, in slippers..... any one else want to recommend which kit is good and which is down right :censored: :shit: :single fuck:....................
Good kit....RUKKA
Bad kit.... Lidl
Good kit: Rukka - v pricey, Rev It - pricey, Dainese - pricey, Alpinestars - pricey. Mogster - cheap for boots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rukka, BMW!!!! = leather cruiser trousers with Aero Summer Jacket. Or Made to Measure and Daytona "repairable boots boots.
:ohplease: My Rant: Why can't the industry agree on a zip type so that all jackets and trouser/jeans can connect on the half zip.
Also, why can't all :censored: phones and other bits and bobs run of one charger with a universal adaptor for travelling?
:ohplease: It can't be rocket :shit:.
If one so new to the forum may make a suggestion; let's have a daily rant category. It is bound to make us :mfr_lol: as we do our miserable git impressions
Did you pay by CC? If so, get them on the case
Hein Gerike, you know it makes sense.

Ah yes... the problem with that is my local Hein Gerike is on the Bedford road in Luton..... one would require a six man security team to look after the GTR whilst i was in side.. :gun_bandana:

Then ride to Eynsham and visit a safer one and drink coffee while browsing.
That and i am 500 yards from it.

Ok Mogs ... the other chaps know what I am going to say .... RUKKA ... all the way .. there is a thread on this somewhere but I have had a Rukka kit for years, all round year commuter, never ever let me down ... bought the trousers last year... yes expensive but you pays your money ... a lot of places are now doing 0% interest free for a year.
Boots ? I have 2 pairs of Altberg .. job boots ... no zips ... why would you buy a pair of boots with zips that will leak in the wet ? :whistling: .... not fancy or fashionable but 100% waterproof .... I wax them every couple of months and have had the first pair resoled and new sticky bits put on with a new gortex liners ... all for £70 ... There comes a time Mogs when all the money you have spent on numerous boots jackets and other so called waterproof stuff will be greater than the cost of a Rukka outfit ....but of course by then it's too late ! :innocent:
Call me kinky if you will..*snigger* but I would rather be clad in leather.... not a great fan of textiles :batman:
Mrs Rusty is the same :innocent: :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
Hein Gerricke, have used 'em for years, never had a problem
oh BTW they sell inner bags too :mfr_lol:

Inner bags !!!! INNER BAGS !!!!! did somebody mention inner bags !!!!!!!!
Rukka , dont they have a problem with that new fangled zip they use where it pops open ?
Ahhh yes the memories of Heine gerricke boots , the only place i had to get trading standards involved as they sold me 2 pair of there own brand boots a few (good few) year ago that were far from waterproof and would not do anything about the fact they leaked on both pairs , how ever i do say there cruise riding suite has been a cracking bit of gear .
i just got a pair of TCX s- race gore tex boots ,not cheap at over £200 but they are warm, comfy ,waterproof and my last pair let me walk away scott free after i dropped the Vfr on my leg while going over wrynose/hardnott pass, running backwards as the brakes wouldnt hold it on the steep section
I wear alpinestars swear by them, yes they are pricey but you get what you pay for,had the leather 2 piece now for 5 years and its still in tip top condition but i do oil and feed it regular, but i also have some kawasaki clothing -- its really good quality and not too expensive. Its a bit like tyres you tend to go with what you trust and bugger the cost.
Heine Gericke for me.
Leathers, textiles, gloves, bits and bobs.
Usually go to Chester or Newcastle Under lyne, but have bought some stiff from Cheltenham cos my daughter lives there and we usually pop in to say hello when visiting.
Best service so far has been Newcastle by a whisker, really friendly and helpful.
Ahh, zips.
On my Sidi boots the zip pull/handle (what is that called?) went after a couple of years.
Same on my Hein Gericke trousers, zip pulls gone on the calves.
Hein Gericke jacket, metal zip bursts open when done up. Mind you, the HG stuff is 15 years old and I've just retired it
Frank Thomas jacket, zip pull gone.
When the zip handle goes I thread some plastic coated wire through and use that. It works.
I've only ever had the zip go on one of my Sidi boots, simply took it to a local cobblers and for £5 they fitted a new zip and it was sorted. I was well impressed.

good idea that ...might be worth a punt
I had a RST one piece, lasted a season or two now got Berik kangaroo leathers. Made to measure would be an option e.g. http://www.amleathers.co.uk/ (http://www.amleathers.co.uk/) OT Rukka only make textile don't they?
BMW Santiago boots (warm & totally waterproof), 4 years old
Frank Thomas boots for warmer weather, 3 years old
RST Ventillator II suit (no quality problems, does what it says), three years old
RST Paragon (warm & waterproof), 4 years old
Mind you the best one i saw was a guy in the south of france wearing speedos  :ohplease: and flip flops (no lid)!!! .... he past me doing about 70-ish in a 30kph zone.... guess which plate he was showing...
Light weight waterproof jacket from HG: seams split then zip went all in one winter.
Copilot's leather jeans and jacket plus boots all from HG : no problem. Might ebay them soon, only done about 6k also BMW helmet.
:clap:I love my 14 year old Daytona's long soled once. Waterproof membrane? Calais to Troyes (Feb Time) torrential rain all the way. Passing trucks was like entering under Niagara (that's N). Result: Feet quite dry. Of course they do not win any fashion contests like a racing Sidi :mfr_lol:
