:( I officially have the winter blues. Just looked outside and the snow is falling fast and unfortunately settling. I predict that over the next few days I might get a bit ratty.
The only thing I can think of doing is stripping the bike down and getting familiar with how it dismantles. And I suppose while some of the fairing is off it I might as well give the panels a good polish. How many times am I going to have to do that over the next few weeks while the weather improves? The main roads are clear where I live but our road is a quiet little cul-de-sac and it never gets cleared. I'm trapped.
Aye, its settling in here as well.
Unfortunately I have been so busy with work that I've not had time to plan anything for my bike and to put the icing on the cake, I'm working this weekend as well :(
However, I have just ordered my EXO2 heated clothing so I'm looking forward to playing with that. I also have new tyres to put on, but will wait till I get another 1k out of the current ones.
As for riding in this weather I wouldn't as its the ice that will kill you. We just had one biker at work come off due to ice. Ironically the day before we were discussing about riding in snow and both agreed that it was too risky.
I'm going to have a look in Hein Gericke tomorrrow, that'll kill some time.
There is now snow down here on the South Coast and I am sure like everyone else the bike is trapped in the garage ... time for a bit of a garage tidy, sweep out and general clear up ... looking forward to the NEC Bike Show on Thursday. I shall let you know how it goes.
Doesn't look as if I'll be going after all. Can't even get my car off my street and had to use a bus for the first time in years. Not a pleasant experience!
Its gradually thawing over where I live. Two more days to work and then four days off. Who knows not only might I be able to get the car off my street, I might even be able to get my bike out for a play. ;D
Over the weekend I was using my wifes car for work as it has snow tyres on and its brill in this weather. Sunday night though I had to use my own car as the wife needed hers for work Monday morning. I had no problems getting to work but the following morning on the way home just as I was coming out of Halifax in rush hour traffic the engine died and I had to coast down to a garage forecourt. Apparantly there was a message on the dashboard something about an engine malfunction, I gathered that much myself though without the message when the bloody thing wouldn't start. ::)
Ended up having to wait an hour and a half in -4 temperatures for the AA who plugged in their box of tricks and told me that there was a fault with the engine. >:( They came good though pretty quickly, the guy identified the fault which was an incorrectly fitted air pipe, moved it, reconnected it and then bingo. My heater worked again, the engine was running sweetly so I was happy and managed to get home.
What annoyed me was I had only recently had the car serviced at a main Ford Dealers in Bradford, paid through the nose for a proper service and then it broke down. I'll be speaking to the service manager tomorrow and seeing what they have to say. I aint a happy chap!!
Main dealers, you gotta hate them!
Snow is slowly receding here in North Leeds area, above freezing by the end of the week according to the met office, possible 5 or 6 degrees at the weekend.
I need to test ride my new baby, but the roads are blathered in salt now >:(
lets hope for a torrential downpour on Friday night 8)
I braved the elements and took the bike out today for a bit of a spin. I went out to Silsden on the far side of Keighley to drop off a Christmas Card for someone I used to work with and then rode over to Halifax to pick up some paperwork I needed from work. Got to admit I felt quite rusty on the bike seeing as how I havent used it for a couple of weeks or so now.
I was just getting into the flow of things again when I arrived home. I might, weather permitting take it out for another spin tomorrow. I'm trying to burn off some fuel so that I can finally lift the tank a bit and feed some cables under it.
Since the snow thawed I've been taking advantage of the weather and commuting into work. Looks like it's going to be freezing cold the rest of the week though
Looks like the bike won't be going out any time soon :(
It was -10 my way this morning and I saw a learner on a 125 in their jeans and no gloves.

Sheer madness. ::)
Looks like there might be a thaw next week. Bike will be out. Might even wash it as it is really filthy this year
Might even have time to do a short run somewhere if anyone is up for it
Weather permitting I might be up for a ride.
