Title: 2kwacks & Lonewolf on tour in wales.
Post by: Lonewolf on March 30, 2012, 09:47:16 PM
It's been a long time coming, work getting in the way, weather disrupting plans etc but finally I made the effort and met up with Dave in his neck of the woods.

Met up with 2kwacks at Chester Services J14 M56 just before 09:30 today and then headed to the Ponderosa for my first ever visit. Bloody cold and windy and initially not another bike in sight. We were there early though! A couple of other bikers rolled in just before we left and I'm reliably informed that on occasion its so busy you cant even park a bike in the car park. It was good to see two GTR's together in the best colour.

Things were looking bleak weather wise but it did pick up.

Eventually we made our way towards Bala and then stopped off at a white water rafting site where we didnt go rafting.....but we did watch!! :mfr_lol:

Apparantly this is how you do it. Now where's the water?

Now this looks fun if not a tad risky.

Dave & I both trying to work out how the timers work on our cameras.

Even dogs are invited.

Two crackin looking bikes.

We ended up at Betts Y Coed where some strange woman thought we were both Coppers  :whistling:  and wanted to have her photo taken with us for some magazine which was a bit weird. I drew the line though at blowing her a kiss which is what she asked for. We finally ended up back at the Ponderosa for yet another hot drink before going home where some total stranger approached us showing us a red rag which had been chewed by rats   as we left.

All in all an excellent day out and I covered just over 300 miles. Next time I'm going to show 2kwacks the delights of North Yorkshire and hopefully Tan Hill Inn.

Never been to the ponderosa, will do this year though, good to see two GTRs having a good time all clean and shine, just a pity there not the best colour.

Its a bit sad when you can look at a bike and tell which forum member it belongs to

Ideally, as Dave pointed out you need more than one day to tour this part of Wales, there's just so much there to see.

Looks and sounds like a great day out that chaps. I cant imagine why that lady thought you were two coppers, did she have a crystal ball?. Really nice area that for enjoying a bike, and the scenery is rather splended too. I used to do lots of miles around that region, but that was when I lived 100 miles further south than I do now.You probably made a wise decision going mid-week as it can get a little bit manic at week ends in that region.          Dave did you get a bollocking from  Steve for leaving the panniers off?    or

Just fired up the forum on this grey and, in contrast to yesterday, rather chilly day, and was immediately drawn to Wolf and Kwacks' day out.

Really good: nice pictures and write up.  Of course you were both taken for (undercover) police particularly with the cup-in-the-face attempt to hide identity  :mfr_lol:

".......if I tell you madame, I would have to kill you.. :2guns:             .blow you a kiss!!!!!!!!!NO!"

Yeah, I did mention Dave's panniers, or lack of them!  I told him I'd let it slide this time but in future he must attend with a complete bike.   :mfr_lol:

now..! to the experienced white water rafter, the water speed may not seem to fast. but to me it wasn't moving slow enough  then, when I seen steve eyeing up the kayak's and "twin" paddles I was  and it was at this point I suggested we move on :sweatdrop:

You really do worry me Steve.

I know your name is part of the canine family and you clearly have affiliation that way

BUT

What the hell are you doing to the dogs arse?

Mr wolf.. if I remember correctly the guy with the red rag. said he stored the rag under his seat on his bike, he's lucky the rat was on the rag and not on his electrics, other wise it could have been right bloody mess under is seat  with chewed electrics.. :sweatdrop:
