I hired a 2008 model three weeks ago to go on holiday to Cornwall and loved the bike so much that I came home and bought a new 2011 model last Saturday.
Welcome Mr A-MP. This, as you will find, is an excellent forum. I am also quite new year. Congratulation on your GTR acquisition.
One question please: Where did hire the 08?
Thanks Nok12rs.
Hired from About Town in Wandsworth http://www.abouttownbikehire.co.uk
Found them very friendly and helpful. Cost was £590 for the week plus £60 for comprehensive insurance. They also hire helmets and sat nav if needed.
Hi and welcome to the forum.

Ah Ha! Andrew M-P so did I. Did they explain that the £60 for comprehensive left you with a £2,000 excess plus cost of repatriation if involved in an accident?
I am very interested to hear?
They did mention the excess and repatriation Not very comprehensive then eh?
There was no where else locally who were hiring the GTR so I went with them.
Mr Andrew-MP.. welcome to the forum sorry madhouse! were a friendly bunch on here! a few of us are off to the cotswolds end of june for the weekend, check it out in this link http://www.gtr1400.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,807.0.html hope you can make it. what colour gtr did you plum for?
:185: Andrew, congratulations on your new bike. You might want to review your postcode in your profile so that people dont know exactly where you live. Just a thought, unless its already a red herring. :mfr_lol:
Thanks for the tip Lonewolf. I also keep the key fob under the front doormat for safety!!
I went for black, 2kwaks. Do you know if there is any difference between the 2012 model and the 2011 apart from the colour? According to Kawasaki, who the dealer called, the only difference is the colour. The 2012 comes in blue or red whilst the 2011 comes in black or green. Don't know if I've missed something but as I wanted black I got a great discount so I was very happy.

As far as I'm aware, there's only a colour change between the 2011 and the 2012 model
A number of members of this forum ask the question "what's the difference between mine and previous models? "
This may help with model I.D ....click the model year option toiwards the bottom of this page

No connection to the Houses of Parliament, only the initials of my surname. It Would have been nice to claim the cost of the GTR on expenses!!

You would in fact, Mr M-P, be claiming for your second GTR, (the one with the ducks in the top box) whilst in reality, letting it (the second GTR) to me at an exorbitant rate and imposing a high (but necessary) excess. I would also have to supply you with all my fuel and service receipts for your expenses claim.
Over time, as you climbed the slimy pole, you would be rewarded with a Ministerial GTR and take a back seat home after a day on the front bench.

Ironically, it would eventually be your honest claim for three sets of discs a year which would lead to exposure via a hacked voice mail.
