I bought the Ventureshield kit for under £100 fror the ZZR and it came with a black block to smooth the plastic with and a bottle which has a drop of baby shampoo in, you fill the bottle with water and spray the surface and plastic, then squeegee with the block and "stretch" the film to fit.

In two years it stayed in place and was great. The kit came on a sheet with pre-cut sections you use for each designated panel. there is a website and instruction clips.

I am a politician when it comes to anything vaguely mechanical/electrical/technical ie. you can't believe anything I've done!!  So if it was in any way complicated I would have failed to fit it.

Ventureshield - read the instructionms carefully first and away you go, if you aren't happy with a panel, it lifts off easily and you start again, then leave to dry and it's done.

My experience of protective film was thus, I bought the full venture film kit and fitted it ok, got the hang of it after the first piece or two. I later wanted to add some extra bits a got some cheaper full sheets off ebay, that stuff is not very pliable and does not like curves even when heated with a HDryer. I got some stuff a bit dearer and it was just as difficult on the curves.  An installer told me thats unless its genuine film made by 3M , then it wont stretch. and there is loads of film claiming to be 3M thats is not,   conclusion if its cheap it wont bend.

I think Mr Viper has it ... for this sort of cosmetic work it HAS to be best practice to spend a bit more and get stuff then bends and stretches ... otherwise you are wasting your money and the job will be foooked  !!

Go to your local sign writer shop and ask them for some clear film with minimum 10 year guarantee and while you are there i bet they will fit it too.

If your problem is that the tank and fairing are being marked by you knees, I solved this problem by fitting two sets of genuine K tank protectors, one set in the usual position of your knees, and the other set on the fairing where my long legs were still chafing on the paintwork, worked a treat on mine.
