Title: Rad guard
Post by: coman37 on March 28, 2012, 09:15:05 PM
Got my new Rad guard from E-bay today, fitted nice and easy and gives me peace of mind following some of the shocking tales of Rad damage and subsequent repair/replacement costs

wise choice  I've fitted a rad gaurd, fenda extenda and headlamp protectors to both the zzr and the gtr. I've heard of a few rads and headlamps being damaged by stones. I understand that it's a slim chance! but the replacement cost of a rad and headlamp compaired to the small cost of "prevention" is a no brainer for me

Fenda extenda and h/lamp guard are on the list of future purchases. A holed rad stops you getting home, a cracked headlamp is just an expensive inconvenience

with my current paranoia, i will have to get a guard for the ZZR as well !!!!

Yeah, and you tend to hit the stones a lot faster on the ZZR than you do on the GTR,
although i do find that if you lift the front wheel clear of the road on the ZZR there is less chance of stones hitting the rad

Well I fitted an R&G radiator guard this morning.
Instructions were basic, but there was a lot of swearing coming from the garage. There is not a lot of clearance for a pair of hands to fiddle the cable ties around the upper radiator mounts.
I removed the horn and mount, and the plastic cover from the lower fork clamp to give a bit more clearance for my hands, and managed the job without spilling blood over the tyre or radiator.
Now for a fender extender and rear hugger.
