Just had my policy docs come through, and lo and behold they are all wrong FFS!!! how hard is, every year i tell 'em about the modifications on the bike and every year they ignore me and put 'no mods' on the policy docs, soooo i phone up and tell them and get told that they have put it on the system.
Well it seems that they haven't been putting this info on my policy at all :hammer:...nor have they been adjusting mileage and values!!!!
soo I've just told 'em to stick it where it's dark and smelly, as i have 14 days to cancel, and gone with someone else.
anyho, my advice to anyone with CN insurance is to check that they are holding the correct information.
By modifications to your bike what do you mean? I have added a autocom system to mine along with a sat nav, would that count? Everything else is standard.
Thanks
Alan

Yup, anything that is non standard needs to be declared to ones robbing bastards aka the insurance company, at best they will just refuse to pay out for the sat nav and autocom, and at worst they may try and use it as an excuse to wriggle out of paying anything at all.
Problem is with insurance companies is that it's your word against theirs, which is why I am so careful to make sure that the policy docs match up to what i told 'em.
Unfortunately gone are the days, where one strolled into a shop and talked to a bloke behind a desk... nowadays its all done by call centre ppl.... I worked in one of them a while ago whilst i was doing me sports science degree, and trust me when i say that if you are really really lucky you might get the one with a brain cell that can be bothered NOT to fook up your policy!!
I've found before that insurance companies tend to be only interested in performance mods, rather than cosmetic mods like satnavs & comms units. It clearly varies from company to company.

And if you have done performance mods then they rightly charge you more or refuse to pay if you didn't declare them.
As far as satnav & comms gear are concerned you probably find that they may be covered by home content but not your bike insurance anyway.
Said that some insurers OTOH even cover helmets and leathers.
If you expect that your insurance will cover all your losses and replace your bike totally you're kidding yourself anyway.
I went with Bikesure in the end £460 fer both bikes, including lid and leathers cover, breakdown, key cover and legal cover... also they said that as the Sat nav was hardwired in it would be covered in the event of bike theft or accident,
You all have a point ... I think, from experience that if you tell them about all modifications and extras then it is down to them to decide what they load you for and what they don't ... for example I would say an after market can would be an absolute must, but a sat nav and mount not so but if they are aware of it then it won't be dismissed out of hand if it's written off in the big smash ... get what I'm saying ?
Insurance Companies exist to make money and if they can null and void your policy for even the smallest detour from the small print then they will do so .... even if it's going to cost you more money up front it would be foolish to try and hide stuff from them with the very real possibility of them giving you jack shit when you need it most. Sometimes honesty is a good thing !
I have to say that I'm cynical about insurance company policies, as such I note all conversations with them including the name of the person I'm speaking to, the date, time and details of the conversation, aditionally I request that they confirm the details of any changes/adjustments in writing.
There is one other reason why insurance companies ask for details of modifications and that is that they can/will charge you for modifying your policy with the addition of such bike enhancements, and they are good at adding £40 - £50 + for the pleasure :gun_bandana:
