Or does this journey of a lifetime appear a bit 'relaxed'..not that I would want and "ironbutt" experience but I mean its hardly arduos is it ?
I saw this route on the "Pan Clan" Stand at the recent Scottish Motorcycle Show, sorry the map pic is a bit out of focus

Ha, two weeks for that - were they walking?
We did this trip to Prague (http://g.co/maps/9ykac) and back via Zurich, with a day sightseeing in Prague in a long weekend.
What a bunch of softies. :scooter:
Hummm .. 2weeks does seem a long time for that out and back journey
Pfft ... hardly worth getting the GTR out for that :tt2:
Cologne, Bertchesgaden and Dusseldorf are all good places to stop, been to all three on last two bike trips onto the continent. The Kolsch(Cologne Lager) is a damn fine beer too
I had a very poorly head one day after too much Kolsch ...
I did Austria for the 2003 GTR Rally. There in 2 days (via Strasbourg), 5 days riding Austria, 2 days back.
Easy peasy. Nice place to ride and hotels are cheap in the summer.
Good food, nice people, highly recommended for a biking holiday.
You have to forgive the ST crowd as most of them can't go more than a day without alcohol.
And if yer drinking in Austria, try their Weissen beers and have some Stroh. Lovely stuff!!!
Agreed.....
.....ut give Berliner Weisse a miss unless you really go for fruit syrup in yer beer!
Belgian Trappist Monk stuff is loony juice too
Ah Mr Coney! The Chimay!! What a winter warmer! (of course, just one among so many). I visited the castle at Chimay. They served the beer on the battlements as the sun was setting. (God, sound like I was at the battle of the bulge :agree: )

Or an escapee from Stalag 13 :mfr_lol:

:mfr_lol: :2guns: perhaps the missing word is the most appropriate for me: " Luft"!
If you like Chimay (which colour?) then try Rochefort.
The Rochefort 8 is my favourite as it has a more complex taste than the others.
I grew up in Belgium so have some experience  :single fuck: :hammer:   :taz: :alien: :devil2: of their beers. :mfr_lol:
Most Brits can't get used to the idea of a SIPPING BEER, NOT a GUZZLING BEER!
So, they gulp down the 8 to 13% ABV beer and don't understand why they are bladdered by 10pm. :stuart:
Yes! So right. Only way (for those you describe) not to be bladdered by ten, is to start drinking at 21:55.
In which area did you live Mr Bloomer? I worked on Ave Louise for a few years.
Ah Bruxelles! Ah! les moules (and frites) washed down with good beer or wine.
Trying not to get caught in the Ardennes speed traps at the weekend. (car )
Great hunters meats during the shooting season in local restaurants............................

Mr Bloomer????? :nono: :mfr_lol:
I lived in Uccle (Fort Jaco) and Ixelles, (Place Flagey & La Bascule).
Family moved there in 1974 and I left in 1985.
At one point I worked for ITT (huge tower block) at the Bois de la Cambre end of Avenue Louise.
Frites avec sauce Andalouse, Frikandel and a coke! YUM!
Only got nailed by one speed trap (Gatso) and they only got the bottom 3 digits of my plate.
I love riding in the Ardennes including the French Ardennes (Semois valley) and Luxembourg.
My sister still lives in Bruxelles and Dad is in Luxembourg.
Alors je suis courament Francophone, mais avec un accent carrement Bruxellois, Quoi!! :mfr_lol:
Sorry Mr Boomer, I must have been thinking of a sandwich as I wrote. I was there from 1973 to end of 76. I Rented an apartment on the corner of Av Brugmann (city end) an art deco building opposite that famous art nouveau house.
I believe we could bore the world with yarns of Bruxelles but :nono: we had better not or, big as we are they will take us down :gun_bandana: :surrender: :mfr_lol:
Mon français, telle que je la parle, on dit de sonner soit belge soit allemande. Les Allemands disent que je parle avec un acent français. La chose la plus importante est que je ne parle pas avec un accent anglais
:mfr_lol: Bon !
Ta Rusty
Je suis heureux que vous, les garçons ont obtenu cette triés .... maintenant .... revenons à communiquer en anglais ... après tout c'est déjà assez difficile pour nous les garçons olde à parle dans notre langue maternelle . :mfr_lol:
